It’s almost as though Courtney Love doesn’t know it is her duty as a train wreck to announce a new record and then keep pushing the release date back and back and back until it disappears into a haze of Chinese Democracy-like proportions: Not two weeks after Nobody’s Daughter got a label and a release date of April 27th, the first single from the reanimated corpse of Hole is here… and it doesn’t suck.
Much like the clip of “Samantha” I linked to last time, “Skinny Little Bitch” sounds a bit like leftovers from the ’90s instead of something vivid and in the moment. But from the sludgy bar chords to Love’s aggro wail, it definitely sounds like Hole. And despite the fact that I am no longer 19 years old, I still really enjoy Hole, so, hey, awesometown.

Music has never been Courney’s problem. I have all the Hole albums and they are fantastic. It’s when she starts talking that she gets irritating.
If you like Hole, you’ll like this. Thankfully, it’s far superior to her solo stuff on “America’s Sweetheart” but I have to agree that it’s nothing new. Will I buy it? Probably. Because at least it’s passionate and not autotuned to death. Anyone else think the “SLB” in the title might be HER daughter? Just a thought. Might change my mind once I decode her lyrics. She never was one to enunciate! I give it an 85.
Must add: any new music with guitars makes me happy. So tired of club/dance crapola.
But if those guitars contains anything made by Nickelback, Fall Out Boy, or any other band that sound manufactured by the music industry, its still crapola.
Yeah, ok, fair enough. But Hole/Courtney is far from the world of corporate schlock-rock.
reconstituted, packaged up and tied w a pretty bow, ala Courtneys self-promotion. Nothing special, sounded ok the first time thru but after that it grates in my head. Wont waste money on it.
