MGMT, the glam-psych duo who went from dorm-room hotboxing to platinum-selling poncho glory in the span of mere months, have unleashed (and that really is the right word) the first single from their upcoming sophomore album Congratulations, due April 13.
Stream the choogling, operatic Moby Grape-in-disco-boots “Flash Delirium” below, and tell us what you think of their first post-Oracular follow-up. Spectacular, or not so much?

Not so much..and I really wanted to like it. It sounds like a demo version, as if it still needs to be fleshed out and reined in. I’m going to go listen to Hot Love Drama and try to forget what I just heard.
They had big shoes to fill following Oracular Spectacular, a record Rollingstone mag named 18th in the best 100 albums of the decade, voted by music industry peers.
You’re wrong that it’s a single,…they’re not releasing singles because the whole album they said is one whole piece, so this goes with the other compnents then and something follows this track.
I like it. It’s got alot going on,…although the song ends abruptly, which signals to me that it fits with what’s coming next….can’t wait to hear.
That’s interesting. I didn’t know they weren’t releasing singles. That changes the entire context of how this should be heard.
Fantastic–Best Song of 2010 so far. But I’m biased, so who knows.
“I’m biased” Yeah, obviously, this song is weak.
Very cool – just too much for me to process in one listening. They’ve earned a purchase on faith after their last album. And if all they’d ever done was that horrifying but hilarious Kids video, they’d be cool forever in my book.
It’s OK. Reminds me of Ween somewhat. If Syd-era Pink Floyd, Sparks, Ween and Flaming Lips got together for a campfire singalong
Wow. Disappointing.
Oo… so interesting! Really like it, way to push the envelop MGMT!
Damn, the sophomore slump strikes again – this song stinks. It doesn’t have a hook and I stopped listening to it halfway through. Disappointing.
Jeff- you can’t really criticize a song if you didn’t even take the time to listen to it.
Musically this is the most interesting thing they’ve written. Takes a few listens to get the feel, but man..what an amazing song! Thanks MGMT
Nah, I know what I don’t like and I don’t like this. I saw MGMT last summer with McCartney and they were pretty decent with a handful of good tunes. This new single stinks.
It’s Sgt. Pepper’s School House Rock
Not a single.
