Ortega / PR PhotosFor the third year in a row, gossip blog magnate Perez Hilton is throwing a “One Night in Austin” party on SXSW’s final evening (presented by SWAGG; thanks, sponsors). He recently announced the artists who will perform at the Saturday night event, an eclectic bunch including his label signee Sliimy, Macy Gray, Snoop Dogg, Estelle — and an unnamed “surprise guest” going on last of all at 1:20 A.M.
Who could it be? Rumors have flown around Austin this week. The most intriguing one I heard was that the surprise guest might be Perez’s pal Lady Gaga. That would have been pretty cool, but sadly, it’s not the case. (Unless Gaga is an unannounced fake-out double-surprise guest? Holding out hope!)
Reps for Perez Hilton’s party tell the Music Mix that the surprise headliner will, in fact, be Courtney Love and Hole. Love is already set to introduce the band’s new lineup at a daytime event this afternoon, as well as another show late tonight, so if I’m counting correctly Perez’s party will be this iteration of Hole’s third live gig ever in the U.S. I’ll be at “One Night in Austin” all Saturday night; check back here on Sunday for a full report.

I think a Perez/Courtney Love pairing is a good one since, in my opinion, they are both ugly personalities who are more famous for trash talking than actually bringing anything to the table. Sad to see those other artists signing up with Perez. Oh well.
Perez Hilton is one of the most pathetic examples of five-minutes- of-fame-gone-to-your-head I can think of in this decade.He has no talent of any kind, at least none that is apparent. He is nasty, arrogant & ignorant and seems to think the world revolves around him. He is a sad little man and hopefully, his light will burn out and SOON. The airwaves & cyberspace will be infinitely more wholesome without him. Oh yeah, and he’s the ONLY gay man I’ve ever seen who can’t dress worth a damn, always looks like a reject from Clown School.

I agree. Ugh, used to be a fan, but he got WAY too self-righteous and into himself and his ‘celebrity brand’. His gossip is also a day or two old, and not even original — just ripped right off of the source. And his Microsoft Paint drawings over photographs have different handwriting sometimes, so it’s not just him running his blog anymore. I’m SO glad I switched to Dlisted.

Perez should give up on Sliimy now. Nobody cares, and putting him on his site every other day only erodes what little cred he (Perez) had. And given that somebody gave him a record label, he seemingly really does have some with someone … okay, so by cred I may mean readers. But it turns out the readers aren’t as easily lead as Perez and others may believe. Did he push GaGa before a lot of Americans had heard of her? Sure. But she has killer songs and she would have without him and she was already having hits abroad.
One ‘hole deserves another.
Ok did everyone to comment on how much they hate Perez? The real treat is the return of Hole. Say what you will about Courtney Love and her past she is a brilliant songwriter and she knows how to rock. ‘Nuff said.
