At my 18 year old son’s urging, our entire family flew from Pittsburgh to New York to see the Muse concert at Madison Square Gardens. At 49 years old I have seen my share of great concerts. I will have to say Muse was one of the best concerts I have seen in many many years. They could possibly be one of the top five concerts I have ever seen. When the hydraulic platforms came down to stage level and they began rocking out during New Born with lazers and lights flashing I knew we had made the right decision to come. While they have a very elaborate stage show it does not overshadow the talent on stage. Muse is supposed to tour the United States again this fall. If you enjoy a great rock and roll show go see Muse. Whats this Twilight everybody is talking about? Just kidding! No need to respond.
At many shows, Emily performs near a fan for that windblown look. It works for Japandroids, too.
I don’t say this to be mean, but you really have no business reviewing music acts. The best you can come up with is ‘Epic’? You seem like a teeny-bopper. How can I take your opinion seriously. And referring to Lambert? Muse has been throwing in Queen-like characteristics in their songs for 12+ years now. Sorry you were to clueless to notice them selling out stadium after stadium, not just in Europe, but Asia and down under as well. You say nothing of their superior instrument playing ability nor the symphonic masterpiece song writing. You gave a favorable review, but who cares – you were spoon-fed what to say anyhow.
MI think the only word to describe Muse is epic. People hear one song and are generally curious. By the third song they are hooked. And by the time they’ve heard all of around 110 of their songs, Muse becomes more then just some awesome live band, they become gods. Where the songs are prayers and those guitar riffs and awesome bass lines are just a loud and enthusiastic Amen.
Muse becomes an honest to Bellamy Religion. One which seems to be gaining power and fans.
Take it from some one who’s been a fan since back in the “Showbiz” day…there isn’t a band on earth that can out play, out sing, out live perform MUSE.
First, Kay is absolutely correct. Muse is superior to every band out there, whether performing or composing. I liked the review. She gave a balanced look at the pros and cons and ended on a positive. And name one band that inspired a cultural event like Twilight! Muse rocks!
I totally agree with your descriptions of Muse– glad you enjoyed them + Metric.
Speaking of A-ha, they will be touring North America next month– how about an article, Whitney?
I am sure it was the best set you saw! Metric is the best. I just downloaded Gimme sympathy at the urMusic facebook page, you should check it out.
