What do you think Mariah should’ve done to get the Memoirs to deliver better?
I honestly knew this was going to happen. Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel was such a “lemon.” Why try and fine-tune something that was already broken. Mariah couldn’t compete with releases from Barbra Streisand and Whitney Houston in sales. I think Mariah really needs to re-think her soundand the way she promotes records, before dealing with her next album.
Mariah should focus on releasing more singles from her latest album instead of this remix album. I think because Memoirs has a lot of midtempo to slow ballads that they needed dance numbers from her to rival the Rihanna, Kesha and Lady Gaga hits out right now. To do this remix is an insult to producers Christopher Stewart and The Dream, who handled most of her album. They created very melodic songs for Mariah and they should get more airplay.
Tell me this–why would Island Def release a remix album by Mariah Carey the same day as Usher’s new album Raymond vs. Raymond! She’d be crushed in sales that week! That Usher’s week and he should own it with his loyal fan base. Smart move that they canceled the release. Wait til 2011 or 2012 to do it!

I love ‘Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel’…the re-mix CD would have been fun, but let her just release the maxi singles from ‘M of an I A’ instead, smarter move. She’s planning on possible new CD with new material or even a new X-mas CD by the end of 2010 instead.
Also, her Angels Advocate Tour in 2009 came in 7th in the nation, like 400,000 less tickets behind Lady Ga Ga who came in 6th…Mariah still has it. Can’t wait for the re-mix singles to be released and for the ‘new material’ CD’s!
i am a huge mariah carey fan, but i think “memoirs”, although having solid songs was never going to produce hit singles. “emancipation” was the comeback she needed, quickly followed by “e=mc2″ which was good but not as solid as “mimi”. then she tried to go the complete other way and do a smooth r&b more “classic” sounding CD. again, not a bad album at all, but it really had no hit singles. if she didn’t care about overall sales, that’s fine, but if she did, wrong move. there should always be at least 4 or 5 club-bangers on a mariah CD and this time there were zero. it just wasn’t a radio-friendly CD, that doesn’t mean it wasn’t good, just not what the public ordered.
Does anyone actually care one way or another about this?
How can anyone possibly think that she is still relevant? I mean really…. she has worn the same cliched outfit and hairstyle for 20 years now and she doesn’t even exercise her amazing vocal capabilities. Do something NEW or give it up.

When a person sets very high standards and people get used to it, people forget time passes and that a person will not be as great as he/she is the way she he/she set the standards before. It’s very much true for mariah. Come on, you gotta give it to her. I think she realized it would be a waste to release it. Creating a new album from scratch is better.
