Image Credit: Glee: Carin Baer/FOX; Madonna: Sylvain Gaboury/PRThe holy alliance more than five months in the making has finally arrived: Glee‘s Madgesty-themed mini-album, The Power of Madonna will hit stores April 20, like a show-choir meteor (or should we say, lucky star).
The task of cherrypicking seven tracks from La Ciccone’s massive catalog is a bit of a shuffle-button Sophie’s Choice; but did they choose wisely? See the tracklisting after the jump:
The Power of Madonna Track Listing
1. Express Yourself
2. Borderline/Open Your Heart
3. Vogue
4. Like A Virgin
5. 4 Minutes
6. What It Feels Like For A Girl
7. Like A Prayer
Now, we can guess who might trilling “Like a Virgin” (the barn door on everything but the “Like” has closed on this preggo), and “What It Feels Like for a Girl” undoubtedly belongs to Rachel (Lea Michele), unless they go rogue with a bold move like Sue (Jane Lynch) or Kurt (Chris Colfer).
Though these seven songs are pretty career-encompassing for Madge, I can’t lie; I would not be mad at a little “La Isla Bonita” (you only need one tenuous reason for maracas and an onstage margarita machine); and while we’re talking “Express Yourself,” I say go video-thematic (monocles! pinstripe crotch grabs! bohunk prison choreography!).
We turn to you now, Gleeks: Are you fully Into the Groove on this one, or perhaps feeling a little Borderline? You’ve got approximately four weeks—April 20—until both the EP and the episode arrive; in the meantime, tell us which cast member(s) you see doing each song, and why.

Looks like a pretty good line up to me. I can’t wait until this episode!!!
Damn, that pic of Madge isn’t flattering. She is starting to have the puffed-up, plastic mask look of women who get too much plastic surgery. I love Madonna and her music, and I wish she would’ve refrained from those awful cheekbones implants and that much botox…
I think Glee is one of the most over rated, worst hit we have seen in a wile.
@ Geo – I hope you have something better to look forward to than this episode.
@ Tim – Thanks for your thoughtful insight, gag. How do you feel about Nicole kidman and Megan Fox?
Yeah, they’re just missing Erotica. I’m sure families would love that.
Now, we know who probably won’t be trilling “Like a Virgin” (that barn door has closed for this preggo)…”
You’ve got it exactly backwards! The song only make sense when sung by a NON-virgin. “You make me feel shiny and new like a virgin”. Well, really virgins always feel that way.
What about Will’s wife Terri? Maybe she sings it to him to try and get him back? Do we know what’s happening with Terri at all?
Like a Virgin is being sung by 6 people: Will, Emma, Finn, Santana, Rachel, and Jesse (Jon Groff.)
jon groff=loveee!
Hmmm…there was a spoiler earlier that said Sue was going to be singing Vogue after Kurt and Mercedes gave her a makeover, I believe. I’m going to say Sue sings “Vogue”, Rachel sings “Like a Prayer”, maybe they’ll have Emma sing “Like a Virign”? Not too sure on the rest yet but I can’t wait for the episode and the album!
I think Emma is singing “Like a Virgin.”
yea emma and will are singing “like a virgin” he said that in the paley fest interview
Yes, Sue is singing Vogue. They talked about it at the PaleyFest panel.
There is a preview where Rachel sings Like a Prayer and then they cut to a choir and the rest of the cast on the stage so I’m guessing that’s a group performance at the end of the episode. The BIG number to close with.
Can Emma sing? Cus if not please don’t sing lol…
Sue Sylvester + Vogue = AWESOME!
i think kurt would sing “what it feels like for a girl” based of the lyrics of that song
I can think of a few other Madonna songs I like better but I guess in terms of working it into the show this is a good list. I’ll be happy either way just as long as the show is on the air!
Have you clicked on the link to Amazon? The cover of the EP is awesome.
Didn’t Justin Timberlake sing with Madonna on 4 minutes? Is it too much to hope that Will is going to be a part of this one?
What? No “Papa Don’t Preach” for Quinn?!?
Already done, while babysitting with Puck. It was good, included some of the moves from the video.
Didn’t she already sing that in the first half of the season?
Oh, I totally forgot! Thanks.
uh, she already did that one
Uh, yeah. I know that now. ^ See?? ^
which is why it should be on the EP
They should put that on as a bonus track.
DONE! How did you miss that one? Must not be a true GLEEK…;)
Well from the promos, it looks like Express Yourself is done by cheerleaders, or maybe thats to throw us off.
Anyway it sounds like Dianna’s voice at the beginning.
Its Lea’s
Amber Riley (Mercedes) is gonna *kill* at the end of “Like a Prayer.” I am already expecting tears for “WIFLfaG.”
considering the latest promo I dont think anything will trump like a prayer.
I could’ve done without 4 Minutes. I like it ok, but it certainly isnt Madonna’s best. 90′s Madonna was basically ignored – throw in Take A Bow, and ixnay 4 mintues.
As much as I see your point, the songs chosen need to be part of a story and thus lyrical content is what is relevant, not chronology…
90′s Madonna is not ignored: VOGUE came out in 1990, although it was only her second biggest hit from that era; her # 1 selling/most played nineties song was Take A Bow…
Take a Bow was her longest-running #1 in the 90′s (and ever) in America, but it wasn’t her top-selling single of the decade. “Vogue” sold 2 million and “Justify My Love” sold 1 million.
“Take a Bow” was one of twelve additional gold (1/2 million) singles she had over the course of the decade. (More than she had in the eighties, amazingly enough.)

OMG OMG OMG, I so cannot wait. Featuring the most important music artist in history is going to make history!
Yeah, she’s not.
She’s up there, though.
I want some of what you’ve been smoking, Damion.
where’s “Hung Up”!?!?!? best madonna song ever!!!!!!
quinn totally doing borderline
I see Terri singing Borderline as she’s stalking Will and Emma.
I too love Hung Up and would have loved hearing Kurt sing it about his Finn crush. But I can totally see Will doing Timberlake’s part in 4 Minutes. I’m not familiar with the what it feels like for a girl so they could have left that one off for me.
