Toby Keith also surprised by his own participation in Sarah Palin's show. (LL Cool J feels his pain.)

Mere moments after LL Cool J informed the world — and, apparently, Fox News — that he had no intention of being a part of Sarah Palin’s upcoming show, Real American Stories, the good people over at HitFix spoke to country music singer Toby Keith, who’s also featured in the show’s promos. According to HitFix, “Keith, who says he’s a registered Democrat, was not told about the usage of a past interview for Palin’s program. ‘We were never contacted by Fox,’ his rep tells Hitfix. ‘I have no idea what interview it’s taken from. They’re promoting this like it’s a brand new interview. He never sat down with Sarah Palin.’”

Unlike LL, Keith’s segment is expected to stay in the show, but we’re secretly hoping Fox will put out a press release wishing him luck on his “fledgling music career” anyway.

Toby Keith is a registered Democrat? WhaThaFuh? I feel like I am on crazypills

    • Becca

I know!!! I’m really shocked that he is a democrat. Is this a joke?

    • maiv

whoa, i was shocked as well…

    • rmb

He was on John Stewart’s Christmas special and publicly supported Obama for president. Definitely a Democrat.

    • BB

Yes he is. And he was on C-span at some annual press function as a featured speaker talking about it. He says he has Republican friends and Democratic friends but hates to be put in a box. He also said President Obama impressed him as soon as he made Gen. Jim Jones NSA. Apparently he’s voted Democratic most of his life.

    • LuisPJ

if the Dixie Chicks or some other illinois celeb criticize Obama…Will T Keith be there to defend

    • Chris

He said in 2008 that he was re-registering Independent. He feels the present day Dem ticket no longer stands for what he believes in. Some call him a Conservative Democrat.
As to the “interview” issue. Fox never promoted the show as an interview based program. Mediate was the one who slanted the format as an interview format.

    • tennisfan

He’s an Oklahoma Democrat — yes there actually are quite a few here in this red state, BUT they’re a very different breed from coastal blue state Demos…

  • Tad

I wonder why LL Cool J hasn’t come out of the closet since Ricky Martin finally did….

    • Michael

He wants no part of a Republican, so he must be gay, right? You are a moron.

    • Alan of Montreal

I’d love it if LL Cool J was gay–hotness!

      • shep

        x2

    • jbj

I’ve been a fangirl of Lady Lover Cool James since the late 80s, but I have to say that in the last few years he has certainly emoted a gay vibe, to me. I totally peaked during the first few episodes of NCIS:LA, where there were numerous strange comments and looks between him and Chris O’Donnell that made me think their characters were on the down low. Sadly, that was the only thing I found interesting about that show.

  • Ben

Hi Whitney. I’m still waiting for you to admit that you lied when you wrote your hugely-derided Danny Gokey hate-filled article back in January. Ready to confess?

    • wow

Hahahahaha wow. This is perhaps the most pathetic comment I have ever seen. And that is saying something.

      • hatedon

Let’s all point our fingers at Ben and laugh.

    • TJ

      LMAO, what?

    • Sara

There’s always time for Gokey hate.

  • sprock

Did anyone actually sit down with Sarah? Or is the fact that no one wants to talk to her, yet she has an interview show anyway, another example of “triumphing over adversity?”

    • cindy

      LMAO!!!

  • flicketyflack

“Unlike LL, Keith’s segment is expected to stay in the show, but we’re secretly hoping Fox will put out a press release wishing him luck on his “fledgling music career” anyway.”

Haha, that’d be great! But they won’t take a cheapshot against him because they see his fans more as their demo and they don’t want to anger their demo. Too, Toby Keith fans are notorious for being very loud, angry, and irrational when they think their hero’s been dissed. Kind of like Danny Gokey fans if Ben is any indication, except Toby’s actually accomplished something in country music.

  • Juniper

Ridiculous… how many times is Fox going to get called out on their crazy editing and splicing and “mistakes” and unsubstantiated statements that have no basis in reality before they lose their credibility? Oh wait…

    • llevinso

Yeah, it really seems like she hasn’t interviewed anyone for this show…? It would’ve been nice of FOX to at least let these people know they were being used in her show. But it’s FOX so who am I kidding?

  • Jean

Honestly, how b***hy was Fox’s comment re: LL Cool J’s ‘fledgling’ acting career? Me-ow!!!

  • Arthur Withee

Some- one should Wake Up and send Sarah Palin back to, Gee I don”t Know Where?? She Screwed every thing up in he Home State ( Family Too) so she can”t go back there! Why would any one want her for President? She should leave and take that “YOU OWE ME” Mcain with her. They make a good pair! They both don”t have a Clue. Don”t they know you can not ride a Dead Horse!!

    • Terry

I have no idea why anyone would want that idiot for president. But I was watching the news here in Denver and members of the “tea Party” had some kind of rally(I know, who cares?) and sure as $hit, I saw a poster that said Palin 2012. Which if I were to take the movement seriously, having her as a candidate would show that they really are overstating their importance.

      • me

I hope she puts Bachmann (two Ns) on as her running mate. I can see it now…the b o o b ticket!

  • Ann

    Faux Noise hypocrisy again.
let me get this straight, Faux Noise has created a show called Real American Stories with Palin as the host, and yet she doesn’t really interview the stars being profiled, the network did nothing to inform the stars that past interview footage was going to be used, and these stars don’t want to have anything to do with Faux Noise or Palin. Is that about right?

    • MR E

Faux Noise? Hilarious. I think saying Faux News is better. Faux Noise really doesn’t make sense.

      • Raven_Moon

Faux News? Awesome. I love it. Also, I had no idea Toby Keith was Democrat. Craziness.

  • laura

Sarah Palin is the Paris Hilton of Politics!! ;p

    • steph

now now, dont insult Paris Hilton like that!

  • DanB2666

What I find more disturbing, but not surprising, is that Faux News was going to put a show out with Sarah Palin just asking questions to deadspace, while they had interviews from the past answer the questions. Faux News doesn’t even have faith that she can conduct a interview!!!

    • llevinso

Actually that might be one of FOX’s smarter moves. I mean, would YOU trust Sarah Palin to conduct a live interview? I think not.

      • 4rocket

        LOL, good point!

      • me

I don’t trust Sarah Palin in a live interview as the interviewed!

    • SlikLizrd

Let’s see if I got this deal right —
FOX is going to run an interview program titled “Real American Stories” — and they can’t give “live” interviews because the host is brain-dead.
A white country singer and a black rapper are NOT going to appear on the Sarah Palin-hosted show because they don’t want to.
Way to go, LLCoolJ and Toby !!!
FOX will screw you out of your creative talents in a heartbeat — and if ya don’t believe me, ask Tracy Ullman (The Simpsons) !!

  • WhitneyD

Honestly, when I saw FOX News’ response, I was sad. I’d half hoped to see LL Cool J with one background and Sarah Palin in a totally different one- with them trying to make it look like one interview. That would have been hilarious.

(But really, they couldn’t bother to inform people they were reusing old interviews? I mean, technically, if they gave them to Fox News, they’re Fox’s to reuse.)

  • Preston

I saw Toby Keith’s face in the ad as well as LL Cool J’s. I’m sure that Sarah and Fox put their clips on without their permission or without their knowing. They didn’t even show their names in the commercial! It’s really hastily and sloppily thrown together to me. Sometimes, the ad boasts more about Sarah’s overblown ego than the show itself!

    • Ronda

      Preston,
Sarah has nothing on President Obama when it comes to ego-tripping.
Funny thing is, for all of you to hate FOX so much, ya’ll sure seem to know what they are doing.

      • Terry

I want my president to had an ego. At least that shows confidence unlike the weenie we had cowering under his desk while his vice president was pulling the strings. And I don’t think Palin is confident so much as delusional.

      • me

I don’t think the current President has an ego. But so what if he does? The last one had delusions so just an ego would be an improvement.

  • Beth

He WAS a democrat. He’s Independent now.

  • Ronda

Does this mean all of you will be running out and buying Toby’s latest CD?
Funny how one little letter behind your name can change the way people think of you.
Now that you know that Toby isn’t a Republican, he’s alright with you.

    • Terry

Who buys cds? What are you stuck in the 90′s?

    • CleverShrew

to answer your question – no, I will not. I don’t care how the toolbox votes, I still hate him.
