Next week’s all-Madonna episode of Glee is the most music-packed episode so far—and, in my opinion, their best hour yet. So it makes sense Fox is slowly leaking select tracks from the episode, like Sue Sylvester’s brilliant scene-for-scene remake of “Vogue.” Now, we have the cast’s phenomenal cover of “Like a Prayer.” “Like a Prayer” is definitely one of the highlights of the episode and probably the show’s best shot at another “Don’t Stop Believin’”-type download phenomenon. Plus, it does a nice job of incorporating most of the cast’s vocals. Full track below…
What do you think, Music Mix-ers? Does it live up to Madonna’s version? Is it better?

i love this song! i cannot wait to download it and watch the episode!
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!
Lea Michele sounds better than Madonna on a good day.
amen sister – wish I could have seen her in Spring Awakenings. I am sitting at my computer dancing in place with goosebumps – awesome – proud to be a gleek
I CANNOT BELIEVE how good this is. I have goosebumps. This song is already my fave Madonna song and now the Glee cast have done wonders to this song. WOW!
Same It was already one of my ALL TIME fav songs and GLEE just made it better!
Once again, Lea Michele makes another song positively radiant. Unfortunately for her and the song, her beautiful opening solo is followed by Cory’s lackluster vocals.
I have to agree. Cory’s voice is just not suited with hers at all. I used to be able to tolerate it, but at this point in the show and with the addition of Jonathan Groff, he’s useless.
Lea does sound wonderful on this track, though. Always does.
I was thinking the same thing… And Jonathan Groff is seriously amazing.
I like Cory’s normal-guy voice (and he’s getting better as the show goes on), but I also really hope they find a way to make Groff a regular. I LOVE him.
And I love this cover. I’ll definitely be downloading this as soon as it’s available.
I’ll also probably be replaying it on youtube about a zillion times until that happens.
Yeah, I have to agree with Alia. I hope Jonathan Groff sticks around, but Lea is so powerful, and he’s so powerful that their duet was a bit much for television. Would kill on stage though. I kind of like the combo of Cory and Lea. He’s got a pretty tone that blends well with hers and Lea’s got enough vocal gymnastics for ten singers.
Totally agree, I find his voice distracting somehow, instead and natural and smooth like the rest (particularly Lea)
For the sake of the show, it’s a good thing that Cory is just an average singer. Finn is a shower singer, it wouldn’t have been credible if Cory was a great singer in real life. I love Cory as Finn; don’t change anything, Mr Murphy!
Except that we’re to believe that he is Rachel’s vocal equal: “I need a male lead who can keep up with me vocally.” It just doesn’t add up since she overpowers him in EVERY song.
Well, they say “Love is blind”, right?
I’m not the only ONE?!?!
I LOVE this show however, while I think Lea has an excellent voice (Cory’s, is not strong at all–agree with comments about Jonathan) theu don’t do this song justice! This version just shows me that Madonna was a better vocalist than I ever gave her credit for!
I’ve been listening to it nonstop! GLEE + MADONNA + EPIC EPISODE! Hearing Kurt’s voice was awesome.
Agreed. It’s soo good to hear Kurt’s voice, plus Asian and I think Puck too! They should have let Lea sit back and let Quinn do some vocals on this one I thought…
I wish they’d let Quinn sing more too. I liked her version of Papa Don’t Preach.
quinn has the most nasally voice ive ever heard. i truly hope she never sings again on this show
Quinn’s so hot though, she can sing whatever she wants to.
Wow… I’m seriously surprised! This is great! =o
LOVE it!!!!!! The “Vogue” video is genius as well.
goosebumps
Compared to GLEE, American Idol looks so pitiful. Did you see the glee cast on OPRAH? They were awesome.
OMG! At 1:03 is that Kurt??? OMG!!! EARGASM !!!
Who is it right after him? I thought Mercades, but it’s way too restrained.
It’s Tina… I’m sure of it! =)
Yep. That’s Jenna.
Thanks, she was my second guess
Does anyone else hear Johnathan Groff around 2.03??
its Mercedes. It sounds different because she is actually singing as opposed to shouting how she usualy does.
That def sounds like the Groff at 2:03. I also think its a very restrained Mercedes after Kurt. I can’t wait to see.

Kurt has a gorgeous voice. Yes it’s high for a male singer, but it’s very clear and he has a beautiful tone. He needs more solos than Finn, whose likeable but really can’t sing
And I’m amused that the song explicitly about a certain sexual act is featured…
I always thought ‘like a prayer’ was about oral sex. its kinda funny to hear these goody goodies singing this blasphemous song!! lol
Oral sex?
Are you an idiot?
Why does “I’m down on my knees” have to be a reference to oral sex? Listen to that line within the context of the song, Einstein.
Ever heard of double meaning? Madonna’s not exactly a gospel singer you hear on Christian radio. Making the song have double meaning is edgy. Oral sex and Religion. It makes more sense, to me, than Madonna singing a worship song.
Perish the thought that Madonna should mix in a little tacky and gratuitous sexual innuendo into her music. So out of character!
Lea is amazing! I do like her opposite Jonathan.
Kurt sounds like an Irish Catholic preteen schoolboy… In a good way!
I actually thought Cory was getting better with his singing. I thought his “Hello, I Love You” was pretty good.
I agree, he’s been improving and “Hello, I love you” was proof–no autotune that I could detect!
AMAZING
A little too much on the auto-tune for Kurt there…. But love it!
Lea Michele <3
probably the only madonna song i like, but once again, autotuning just ruined it for me. i do like rachel, mercedes, and tina’s voices in here though…
Autotuning in Madonna’s version?? Huh? Hate on her all you want..but..her voice is only “autotuned” in songs from “American Life”.
Plus, there is a difference between Auto-Tune and Vocoder.
no, i meant too much autotuning in THIS cover. the original is priceless
Calm down – since autotune didn’t exist until several years after the original Like A Prayer, I doubt anyone’ saying it was used then!
Love love this song, but Mark Salling needs more solos. His voice is sooo much better than Cory’s.
i completely agree.
Kevin also has a good voice, way above Cory’s.
This is really great, but I miss Kevin McHale/Artie, too! His parts in songs are usually my favorite. LOVE his voice; I would argue he’s the most talented male vocalist (although now the extremely talented Jonathan Groff seems to get the parts Kevin would sing).
1. love your name Never Watched
2. Kevin is probably my favorite character and singer of the whole group (even over Mercedes!) His voice is just gorgeous- deep, sexy, with emotion. i want to hear more from him! cant wait for the tina/artie episode.
Salling was amazing doing Sweet Caroline, he needs to do a lot more!
