We’re less than a month away from the start of the new Glee concert tour, set to begin May 15 in Phoenix, AZ, but EW.com has uncovered some exclusive details for you Gleeks who just can’t wait. “We’re gonna do between 15 and 18 numbers,” explains Glee creator Ryan Murphy, who’s also producing and directing the concert. “We made a decision to do our biggest hits because that’s what fans want to see. It’s a concert tour but it also has a story in it.” Staying true to the series, the plot will focus on the kids of New Directions and their rivalry with glee club all-stars, Vocal Adrenaline.
Production on the series’ first season wraps Monday and then the cast will go into heavy rehearsals for the tour, which Murphy promises will be visually spectacular thanks to a set designed by Lady Gaga’s set designer. Says Murphy, “It’s a huge stage. We’ve got multimedia. It’s really big. Fox believes in it so much that they’ve hired the best people. It’s not about going out and selling out a lot of dates and making a lot of money. In fact, we won’t make any money with this first tour because we’ve put so much money into the set design. It’s really just a great thank you to our fans.”

Oh how I wish they’d do a UK tour! I’m a proud Brit Gleek and feel hard done by that no plans are in the works to bring the tour over here! And what about promotion for the back 9 or even the 1st 13 episodes? Did Fox think it wasn’t worth they’re time to do promotion for Glee in the UK? They flew the cast out to Australia for Pete’s sake! Ok, rant over now! I still love Glee, just wish they’d show us UK fans some love x
This cast works so hard. They are doing 16 hour days, often 6 days a week. Now, instead of taking the summer off, they are going on tour. How much more can they do without burning out? I’m sure they’d love to come to Europe if they could, but where do they find the time?
This is hardly a huge tour and it won’t be taking up the entire summer. As I recall, 5-6 cities and ending by the beginning of June.

I’m seeing them in Chicago, and I couldn’t be more excited! I just hope they help some of the other less broadway-ish singers on keeping pitch and singing live (Cory Monteith, love you, but you need to step up your game). I wonder if they’ll have guest stars on the tour, like Jonathan Groff or others. I agree with E., though, these kids need a break sometime. Maybe no tour next summer?
I agree about Cory. I love him but he does need to step it up! He does well with the acting.
I really hope that they do a Glee tour in the UK too!!!!! I really want Glee to tour in England! I love Glee sooooo much and I am like the Biggest Gleek fan ever and I want to see them live in concert and I love it!!!!!!!! I really really want them to do a concert! PLEASE!

Though I would love to see them live in concert, I too am concern about them burning out and ruining their voices. As a college theatre performer, I look forward to down time just from exhaustion of being a full-time student and also rehearsals every night and when one show closes, the next day we start rehearsals for the next. I’ve know a lot of friends who have gone on without breaks and they fall apart from being over-worked.
I’m travelling from scotland to LA to see Glee in concert. After reading this I am even more excited. Can’t wait.

My Life Would Suck Without You and You Can’t Always Get What You Want were two of my favorites, but I pretty much like everything that they do.
Wish they were going to more than 4 cities so I could actually see it.

They should put it on DVD. I’m seeing them in Chicago but I have no intentions on recording the show myself. A DVD version would be great. But if it’s like AI on tour, there probably won’t be one. I really wanted to see last years AI Tour with Adam Lambert.
Is this like slave labor? How can the cast work all year long on the show and then all Summer long on the tour, which is probably a 24-hour a day type thing? I barely have enough energy to make it through the day, I don’t know how they can sustain themselves?
