New 'Glee' music: Hear Jane Lynch and Olivia Newton-John cover 'Physical'

We’ve already heard Sue Sylvester (the phenomenal Jane Lynch) tackle Madonna’s classic “Vogue.” But now the Cheerios coach is dueting with another blonde pop diva: Olivia Newton-John. The Grease star makes an appearance in next week’s episode of Glee, entitled “Bad Reputation,” and records a new version of her hit “Physical” with Sue. And how does this surprising collaboration come about? Well, Sue is embarrassed when a video of her Jazzercising is leaked and Newton-John comes to her rescue. Says Lynch, “She gives me a call and says ‘Let’s remake the “Physical” video for a new generation. You’ve been humiliated, I was humiliated by my video, so let’s get out there and redeem ourselves.'” Lynch adds that working with the singer was a dream. “We had a little dance rehearsal and then we spent the whole day together,” says the actress. “She’s just a wonderful woman, exactly the way you’d think she’d be.”

What do you think of the new “Physical,” Music Mix-ers? Is it better than the original?

      Fantastic!!! I LOVE Gleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

I love Glee, Jane, and Olivia, but this kind of sounds like something Heidi Montag would release. It is auto-tuned to death!

Totally. Shame really. But I LOVE Glee AND Sue Sylvester!

Is supossed to be techno. What did you expected?

      • jared4ever

There’s techno and then there so much over-production that you can hardly hear the singers.

  • Ruby

Wow, I have to admit, this is way better. I even like it.

Aaamazing! I can’t wait to see this-it’s going to be great!

Haha, Jane Lynch is awesome and so is this version of the song. Nice remake guys!!!

Holy crap. That actually could be a big hit.

aside from the occasional silly semi-plot-related excuse like the vogue video, there is NO REASON FOR SUE TO SING. The reason I can tolerate Glee more than other musicals is because the music makes sense: there is a show choir singing songs. They should not sing outside of the context of performing (“like a virgin” in the madonna episode made no sense).

I totally disagree. This show is cheesy and fun. If you are going to be so literal with rules with a show like this, then Glee isn’t the show for you. The cast is dripping with talent, so let them all have some fun every now and then. Vogue was fun because the “gay” and the “black” brought “culture” to the cheerleading coach, who happens to love Madonna. A Jazzercize video of Sue was leaked on YouTube and she is embarrased. So a celebrity with an equally embarrassing video from the past swoops in to help her credibility. Sounds funny to me. Glee is on the minds of every character in this show…whether it is rehearsal, a show, or in their heads (which is where “like a virgin” lived).

Wow! I never was a big fan of the original, but this one is really, really, really bad. I guess I don’t get the electronics instead of voices. I’m glad that others like it, but I just don’t get it.

Like A Virgin totally made sense in the Madonna episode…considering three of the characters were thinking of losing their virginity. It was honestly one of my favorite parts of that episode. The singing often spills out of the performances and into the story telling, this makes story more emotional…for me. It is what makes Glee so amazingly entertaining.

I’d download that on my ipod!!!

The only problem I have with this is that they keep spilling the Sue Sylvester surprise before it airs, then it’s not a surprise. and in this age where we can see the ep after airing. people won’t miss out.

I wish Glee would get canceled so we could see Jane on Two and a Half Men again. She’s excellent no matter what she does.

OMG, they could give Sue her own show. Her two songs have been more events than releases.
    Sue Sylves for Prez!

  • Melinda65

Ugh, I hate the obvious Autotune they used on Jane’s voice, and the fact that the rhythm line overpowers both voices entirely.

  • JC

Wow, sounds great! Can’t wait to see it on the show! Will this be available for download, you think?

this is a fantastic update. dare i say better than the original?
