This obviously isn’t a $1,000,000 video. So? Francis and the Lights‘ latest clip didn’t need a mean budget to be the winner it is. Lights keyboardist Jake Schreier pulled a double shift and directed the dazzling, yet simple video in one take.
The band jams in an abandoned warehouse while lanterns, lamps, and spotlights beam in and out. Get it? It’s just Francis Farewell Starlite, his band, and the lights. To close things out Francis grabs a flashlight, finding his way to a space open enough for him to dance. And then he lets loose. This just goes to show you that when you have talent and qualities as captivating as his, bells and whistles aren’t necessary. Just a stage and some lights.
“Darling, It’s Alright” is the first single from Francis and the Lights’ forthcoming album, It’ll Be Better. It comes out this July, but you can stream the entire album here.

Saw these guys in Atlanta last month. Francis’ voice is very good live. They put on a fantastic show, very high energy, even though the venue was essentially a basement/cave with a tiny platform. I’d love to see what they could do in a larger venue with an actual stage!
das ist das Tollste, was ich seit Langem gesehen habe! Und leider ist es in Europa bei zB Youtube nicht (mehr?) zu sehen…
Einfach Klasse!!!
Ive seen these guys twice. The first time I saw them was in Philly at The Roots Picnic in 2009 and Id been a fan ever since. 2nd time was this past April in DC. Great band! there live show is extremely high energy. They were touring with Drake for a bit but I hope they continue the tour solo soon so I can catch them again!
