I’m not sure when it became ironic to dig Hall & Oates, but it bothers me deeply. Read the full post.

There’s nothing ironic about my love for Hall & Oates. They make great music and anybody who says otherwise is just kidding themselves.
Had loved them since the 1980′s. It was the pop critics not the fans who tried to trash Hall and Oates. Check out Daryl’s monthly cool webisodes “Live At Daryl’s House at http://www.livefromdarylshouse.com
Great article but FCS, stay off this “blue-eyed soul” business. I think it’s derogatory and it implies imitation. I don’t call Lionel Richie a “brown-eyed soft-rock” singer….
Also, there’s no guilt for liking the best in the business.
I have never understood why being a H&O fan should be considered shameful. They’ve had a career any musician would love to have, they have a treasure trove of classics and they can still bring it live. Why they’re not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is beyond me.
Glad to hear that others are finally catching on to one of the best singing duos of all time! Welcome and enjoy!
21 years old and i LOVE hall and oates. no irony here. its like my musical comfort food- if i’m feeling down their songs never fail to put me in a better mood. its also wonderful windows down driving music!
They made some remarkable music and albums in the early ’80s. Their 1980 to 1984 period was superb with the Private Eyes and H20 and Big Bang Boom and Rock and Soul Pt 1 albums all having solid pop numbers with their blue eyed soul voices dominant within them. I like that they’re still performing to crowds to this day! And that today’s rock bands acknowledge them as a musical influence.
I just found out my bf DOESN’T like H&O! Time to break up?
Kick him to the curb.
Daryl Hall and John Oates are the best man! They put on a terrific, rockin’ concert. I watch Live From Daryl’s House every month and haven’t miss an episode yet. These guys are cooler than cool!!!
Hutchy, you go… well said.
They have always been cool. You are now just catching up!
They’re simply the best!
Just came back from seeing them on Long Island. My first time, and I’ve been a fan for 30 years. And while, overall, I loved the experience…they didn’t play “Private Eyes” or “Method of Modern Love”. I’m not too happy about that. But still…unbelievably happy I got to see them before I die.
