Beyoncé's one hot housewife in 'Why Don't You Love Me' video: Watch here

beyonce-videoStarring as B.B. Homemaker in her latest single, “Why Don’t You Love Me,” Beyoncé plays a housewife in need of some loving. Dressed as a 1950s pin-up model, she sings “Why don’t you love me…when I make me so damn easy to love?” And she does make it easy. Beyoncé tends to the garden and washes dishes. She mops floors and shakes her rump in bathing suits. And dusting off all of her Grammys, she obviously brings home the bacon—even if she burns it in the pan. Why a man with even half a brain isn’t giving her all his love baffles me. Not to mention the lace lingerie (whip included) she sports in the bedroom. Yeah, I think she’s a keeper. I’m also pretty sure someone knows that already.

Melina Matsoukas, who also directed Rihanna’s “Rude Boy” and Lady Gaga’s “Just Dance,” shot this playful, sexy clip. Give it a look after the jump.

Corinne Bailey Rae performs and helps Daniel Merriweather pay rent at New York show

Corinne-Bailey-RaeImage Credit: Eugene Gologursky/WireImage.com“I’ve got this problem,” confessed Aussie soul man Daniel Merriweather last night at New York’s Webster Hall. “I’ve got to make rent this month. So I’ll be selling CDs in back after this. Yeah, It’s come to that.” He was joking. I think. Merriweather’s far from a struggling artist. Signed to Mark Ronson‘s Allido Records, he’s a big deal in the U.K., but has yet to experience matching success in the States. Just before the show Daniel causally smoked a cigarette with friends in front of the venue. Few that came to see Corinne Bailey Rae, who he was opening for, recognized him.

The brief performance that followed, however, was one to remember. In a denim shirt, black tee, and matching pants, Merriweather started off with “Getting Out,” the heavy mid-tempo cut from his 2009 debut set Love & War. With his guitarist and piano man in tow, he followed with a stellar cover of Paul McCartney’s “Maybe I’m Amazed” and closed with his latest single, “Red.”

“Like I said,” Merriweather repeated before thanking Rae for the tour invite and leaving the stage. “I’m selling CDs. I’m broke. Go buy it.” I’m pretty sure Merriweather will make rent this month.

Next came Bailey Rae. In her gold sequined dress, she began with a white guitar singing her airy ballad “Are You Here.” She had three additional guitarists,  a drummer, and a keyboardist backing her. Bailey Rae continued with “Like a Star.” Her set felt intimate. With 1,400 fans inside, Webster Hall was filled to capacity, but more than a few couples found space to slow dance, and a few others used her mood music to make out.

“I want to play you one of my favorite songs,” Bailey Rae said as she dropped her guitar. The keyboard’s chords turned organ-like, kicking off a reggae rendition of “I Only Have Eyes For You.” She shook a tambourine for her 2006 hit “Put Your Records On” and returned to the guitar on “Seasons Change.” Her soothing English pipes never fluttered or faltered during her 90 minutes on stage. Before floating off to the next city, Bailey Rae performed the title track of her latest album, “The Sea.” “She’s like an angel up there,” said one woman to her friends. Agreed.

Have you seen Corinne Bailey Rae perform? What’s the best show you’ve seen this year? Let us know.

Britney Spears' 'Telephone' demo: Producer confirms it's her

Filed under: Britney Spears, News and tagged: , ,

Britney-TelephoneImage Credit: Lauren Dukoff; Kevin Mazur/WireImage.com“Telephone” producer Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins has confirmed that a widely circulated leak is, indeed, Britney Spears’ rough demo of what would later become Lady Gaga and Beyoncé’s hit single. “I really don’t know who leaked the version,” Jerkins said in a live online video chat noted by MTV News. “It was an early demo stage of the version. It wasn’t even a mixed version. I would never leak something without Britney’s approval, without [her manager] Larry Rudolph, without Jive Records. That’s just not how I get down.”

The alleged “Telephone” demo hit the Web this weekend, occasioning much hubbub and speculation about its authenticity. Was that really Britney’s voice singing the words we associate with Gaga and Beyoncé? The producer’s comments answer that question pretty definitively. Jerkins also included a teasing mention of Spears’ future plans, promising to “put 200 percent of my focus into writing a new smash for Britney’s new album.” Spears’ label, Jive Records, has not responded to EW’s repeated requests for comment on this story.

What do you think of this revelation? Are you looking forward to Britney Spears’ next album?

Nashville music landmarks devastated by floods; Brad Paisley, Dierks Bentley, more tweet their status. (Also: info on how to help!)

Nashville-music-floodingImage Credit: John Partipilo/The Tennessean/AP ImagesThe tragic flooding of the Cumberland River in Nashville has taken a toll on the city’s country music scene, with both landmarks and artists being affected as the waters rose after storms that killed 22 people in the Southeast over the weekend. The river is expected to crest today at 11 feet over the flood line; sadly, more damage is expected.

The venerable Grand Ole Opry has been forced to relocate shows for the first time since 1975, due to water damage at its Opryland complex. You can see some photos of the scene on the Opry’s Facebook page, linked here. No confirmation is available on the exact damage to the Opry House itself, though sources say there’s three feet of water covering the stage — UPDATE: Nashvillest posted a heartbreaking photo on their Twitter account (thanks, commenter Janna) – and ten feet of floodwater filled the Opryland Hotel yesterday. Although the Ryman Auditorium downtown is safe (and will host one of the relocated Opry shows this week), the bars and clubs on 2nd Avenue are underwater, as is Sommet Center Bridgestone Arena, home to the annual CMA and CMT Awards shows. Across the street, the Country Music Hall of Fame reports five feet of water in a mechanical room, and some damage to a theater in their building. The Tennessean is posting updates to venue closings, as well as fundraising efforts already underway.

The Schermerhorn Symphony Center, home to the Nashville Symphony, has 15 feet of water in the basement putting instruments at risk; they’ve reportedly already lost two pianos and their organ. (The flooding of symphonies is a tragedy that hits particularly close to home for your blogger.)

Sada-new-clipWe offered you an exclusive 40 second preview yesterday, but now you can watch the entire candy-colored video for Sade’s “Babyfather,” right here, right now. Francis and the Lights' 'Darling, It's Alright' video: Watch here

Filed under: Music and tagged: , ,

This obviously isn’t a $1,000,000 video. So? Francis and the Lights‘ latest clip didn’t need a mean budget to be the winner it is. Lights keyboardist Jake Schreier pulled a double shift and directed the dazzling, yet simple video in one take.

The band jams in an abandoned warehouse while lanterns, lamps, and spotlights beam in and out. Get it? It’s just Francis Farewell Starlite, his band, and the lights. To close things out Francis grabs a flashlight, finding his way to a space open enough for him to dance. And then he lets loose. This just goes to show you that when you have talent and qualities as captivating as his, bells and whistles aren’t necessary. Just a stage and some lights.

“Darling, It’s Alright” is the first single from Francis and the Lights’ forthcoming album, It’ll Be Better. It comes out this July, but you can stream the entire album here.

What do you think of the video? Let us know in the comments section below.
