Eminem and Pink's duet, 'Won't Back Down,' hits the Web

What mayhem could two personalities as strong as theirs unleash on a track together? Rap Radar debuted “Won’t Back Down” today, so now we have our answer.

The tone of “Won’t Back Down” is about as different as can be from the zen calm of previous Recovery single “Not Afraid.” Eminem sounds angry as all hell, spewing multisyllabic venom over squalling guitars and drums courtesy of rising producer DJ Khalil. His verbal agility is as impressive as ever, but content-wise this is nothing we haven’t heard from Em before. One clever moment comes a few minutes in, when the track’s volume suddenly drops out mid-rant. “Turn me back up!” Em retorts, still right on beat, and the track complies. “Are you insane? Trying to talk over me in the car? Shut the f— up while my s—’s playing!” How meta. As for Pink, she discharges her hook-howling duties competently, though frankly I expected something a little less anonymous-sounding from her.

What do you think of “Won’t Back Down”? Does this make you more or less excited for Recovery?

Not exactly a catchy song… but does Eminem have talent or what? No one is capable of rapping like him.

i love this guy… he’s crazy. True its nothing original for him, but hes unbelivable…

Loved the idea, the execution was poor. The beat just isn’t great.

I can picture this in a movie during a club scene or an action scene with martial arts and guns. Pretty intense.

i am more excited that they collabed than about the actual song, maybe itll grow on me… of course it will. i love eminem!

Wow. I’m not a huge fan of either artist, but ever since Eminem came back last year, I’ve started getting into him.

This track is venomous! Its not meant to be a single or radio song, obviously.

Eminem here is what Quentin Tarantino was in Kill Bill.

The beat is HORRIBLE, but I think it’s trying to be more rock casue Pink’s in thr song. It’s Ok, “Not Afraid” is sooo much better though.

  • Trevor

The beat is awesome!!! Reminds me of Biggies Raw Track “Unbelievable”.. Some of you Bubble gum listeners might not like it, but this take you back to real rap, basement rap.. and Eminem pisses greatness over it.

Definitely an interesting sound. After a few listens I’m getting into it. Eminem is just so damn clever. At any rate, it’s great to hear him spitting with a lot of passion. And nobody flows like this guy.

    Wow.

Pink’s music has never been anything more than anonymous, mediocre. Em could’ve done much better.

    • Sam

Your mom could’ve done much better.

    • Gloria

You know only an idiot who hasnt heard pink sing will think shes ever been mediocre. listen more kiddo.

    • schwelm

In all honesty Pink is an incredible singer…you need to listen to her whole albums to really appreiciate her

  • graeme

Love the intensity of it…but I would have used Pink a little more on the track instead of just singing the hook a few times. Any female voice could have done that.
