It debuts at No. 1 with 152,000 copies sold. This is the show’s third No. 1 album, following The Power of Madonna and The Music: Volume 3 – Showstoppers, which lands at No. 7 and sold 40,000 copies this week. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse soundtrack comes in at No. 2 with 144,000 units sold.
Christina Aguilera‘s fourth album, Bionic, debuts with particularly underwhelming sales at No. 3. It moved 110,000 copies. Last week’s chart-topper, Jack Johnson’s To the Sea, falls back to No. 4 with 89,000 albums sold. Plies’ Goon Affiliated backs in at No. 5 with 56,000 sets bought. Selling 49,000 albums this week, Justin Bieber’s My World 2.0 drops four spots to No. 6. Lady Antebellum‘s Need You Now also falls four to No. 8, selling 39,000 copies. Dierks Bentley’s Up On The Ridge debuts at No. 9 with 38,000., while Jewel’s Sweet and Wild creeps into the top 10 at No. 10 with 31,000 albums sold.

Glee must make a decent profit off all the music they sell.
Say what you want about the movies but wow do they ever know how to pick music for the Twilight soundtracks. They just keep getting better and better money well spent!

Actually, nycgirl, Rihanna’s last album debuted with 180,000 copies sold, and Adam Lambert’s “overhyped” debut sold about 200,000 in its first week. Christina Aguilera was outsold by Adam Lambert 2:1. That must stink for her.

I love Glee as much as the next person and love Ryan Murphy even more, but I feel like Glee is starting to suffer from overexposure. Hearing about it so much from every damn marketing end is causing me to almost crige at its mention now. Am I alone!?
Christina’s album sales definitely worry me. I blame the lackluster first single, “Not Myself Tonight”. The album is so much better than that song. I hope another single is released soon and the album begins to sell better. I hope songs like “you lost me”, “I hate boys”, “my girls” or even “monday morning” are released if only to show that the album is diverse and has different styles a la Stripped. And as a fan of both christina and lady gaga, i just dont see the similarities. Don’t get it. Christina has been around so much longer and has been talking about this album and the direction it would take long before gaga became a household name. So the comparisons definitely annoy and seem petty.
Christina’s low first week sales can be attributed to her disappearing for 4 years and “Not Myself Tonight” tanking at radio. A good 2nd single should make up for it all though, here’s hoping RCA doesn’t screw this up.
