Your review was fair, and even positive, but watch out for those attacking glamberts. Heaven forbid you should point out the predominent age group, or any other accurate facts about the concerts.
I respectfully disagree with those who think an hour performance is adequate for a performer today. Either give a whole show, or don’t bother at all. And speaking of shows – wth has happened to him? He seemed disengaged, disinterested and just damn tired. I can’t say I enjoyed it much – none of the spark he had last year. Just a shadow of the singer he could have been.

    • melody

What show did you see.. I was there and either you were dead drunk or just dead. The show was beyond fantastic.

    • brianna

*sigh* could you be anymore obvious?

    • Amy

????? Are you sure you watched the same show as everyone else? Maybe you should have your eyes and ears checked ’cause every review I’ve read so far (not just Slezak) sounds completely different from what you’re writing here… Plus, my friend called me this morning from NY and she absolutlely loved the show and said he rocked (and no, she no middle aged woman, she’s 19).

    • gutmybootson

Hey Disillusioned you remind me of a certain blogger who pretended to be an Adam fan, wrote a review of his concert and is getting dissed all over the net.. LOL

      • Disillusioned

Riiiiiiight. I went to 4 shows on the Idol tour last year and have tickets to 2 more Glam Nation dates, just to keep up a pretense of being a fan. Sure.

Speaking of which – know anyone who wants to buy tix for Borgata?

    • momma bear

so Adam should just ditch alli and ori and/or play until 1 am? Because in order for him to play for more than an hour that is what would have to happen. Most mid-size/smaller venues (some arenas as well) have time requirements and you need to complete the show at a specific time. The show in total started at 8 and ended a little after 11 pm. so there was a full show…it just wasn’t all Adam

      • Disillusioned

I haven’t seen enough of Allison to make that call. 20 minutes is pretty pathetic. Orianthi bored the h-ll out of me though. I wouldn’t mind trimming her down to 20 minutes.

      • gutmybootson

Really, you havent seen enough of Allison? What happened to the 4 Idol tours. I don’t really care if you luv or hate Adam. Its the lies, I detest…

      • Disillusioned

She got to sing like 3 songs on the Idol tour. And a duet – whoop. I’d like to have the chance to hear more from Just Like You. She IS on this tour, is she not? Even porn-star fluffers get more play.

And who the hell are you to decide what the truth is? Just some bitter glambert who is all pissy because she got called old? You probably don’t see all your elderly friends in the audience. For those of under 25 it’s glaringly obvious that you are all wacked.

    • Cathy

Kris is playing down the street at some coffee house. Maybe you should have gone to see him.

      • Marie

Why do Adam’s fans always have to insult other Idols? And why attack someone who didn’t like the show? This kind of defensiveness smacks of insecurity.

      • cathy

Because it is Kris and David Cook’s fans that come in here in order to diss Adam. They cannot handle the fact that Adam is outshining their favourite.

      • @cathy

Whoa! Don’t put David Cook fans in the same basket with Kris fans. I adore Adam and David, but would not cross the street to see Kris Allen if it was a free concert.

    • romeo

You weren’t even there, stop lying. Even Rickey Yaneza, an Adam HATER said how fantastic Adam sang and that the audience was HALF MALE. His only complaint was that he doesn’t like alot of the songs. So that’s an outstandig review all things considered. You are a typical Idol sock puppet.

      • Disillusioned

yada yada yada. HALF MALE? Which half – top or bottom? cause I agree, the elderly women do look a lot like trannies.

      • Noah

@Diissusioned: I’m sick of trolls like you… you have no life and no friends so you vent your hate on the internet to get attention… it’s sad and pathetic… You do realize that moset people laugh at pathetic little creeps like you, right?

    • tmd

It takes ONE to know ONE!! Which HALF are you … oh ticket holder of ADAM’s shows who is sooooo Disillusioned??? Bullsh**!!!

  • melody

Hey Michael..Are you too old or too young to write a review?? I say What’s {age}Love got to do with it?? Good article ,but next time please stick to the artist and not his followers .

    • gutmybootson

Hey Melody ITA.. Maybe we should just refer to Michael as the middle aged gay guy, but I wouldn’t lower my standards, I’ll still just call him Michael Slezak writer.

  • samir

@impeach Obama, i feel bad for people like you,not because you don’t like Adam, who cares anyway, but people like you scare me, if i knew you are my neighbor i would move as far as possible from you, no wonder there is a lot of crimes and rape in this world.
Leave some place for love in your heart, too much hate.

I saw Adam on YTube, i am not crazy about him,but good job, that guy can sing.

  • yeah

I love the review but I’m kinda tired that the media wants to show that all Adam fans are middle age women. I’m 22 and I have friends of my age girls and boys as well that like his music as well.
I also want to thank you for reviewing Allison’s set. I think she is incredible.

    • Stormy

At the show in Milwaukee there was a group of servicemen in uniform and i doubt any of them were past 25.

    • gutmybootson

I’m just about Adam’s age, not that it should matter, but my mom is coming with me to his and GaGa’s concert. She said if Donald Trump went to see GaGa, why shouldnt she. The way I see it, is if Madonna, Demi Moore, or Oprah showed up at an Adam concert, middle aged would be pretty cool. :)

      • yeah

true. To be an acceptable middle age women you have to look like one of those. What a society.

  • Erin

I was at the show and your review nails it, Slezak! One thing that also really strikes me, beside the diversity of the crowd, was how certain songs that may sound weaker on the album (namely Surefire Winners) play so much better live when you can see how much fun Adam himself is having and his energy sucks you in. I had an absolute blast at this show and wish I could go again tonight.

  • wonderwoman

Great detailed review, Michael! Saw Glam Nation in Wilkes Barre and will be at the Albany show in August. I’ve never seen such a diverse crowd, from screaming teens to seniors. Adam is a great entertainer who is best appreciated live. I love his album but he sounds much better in person than recorded, a rarity today.

  • arlene

Went last night. Concert was great and Adam is just out-of-this world FABULOUS!!! Crowd was very mixed-all ages, males and females-and people from all over the globe who came to NYC,stood on line for hours just to see Adam. AND it was definately worth the wait!!!

  • Al

    Mike,

Your review of Adam was fair but way off on the opening acts. We know your an allison fan but that was way overboard. Too harsh on Orianthi too. try for a more neutral approach next time.

  • Gage

My suggestion: #1 Cut Allison completely- couldn’t care less if I ever hear from her again #2 shorten Orianthi’s set to 30 minutes #3 30 minutes more of Adam.

    • A.

Thanks! I like Allison but she needs a few more years I guess… She’s frantic and loud and most of the time you can’t understand a word of what she’s singing.
Orianthi is hella talented but her set is waaaaay to long and would work just as well if cut to 20 or 30 minutes.
Any yes, more Adam! But I understand that as the headliner of a 70 dates tour you just have to take care of your voice… especially as Adam always sings live

  • blixx

why does you’re article seem so ageist? whatever overall good review

  • Chip H

We’ll be seeing him later this summer as a birthday present for my daughter (dad’s gotta find his excuses :-) ) when he comes to the Palace in Albany.

  • wickety wack

this dude sucks. straight up modern day liberace, complete with everything but a white piano in the middle of the stage. betcha a lot of these same women in the lambert fanbase were liberace fans too – he reminds them of the olden days.

    • jason

Poke, poke. Better sharpen that stick.

      • @wickety

Liberace didn’t dance and barely sang. He was a world class pianist. Talk about pathetic analogies. Yes he was flamboyant in later years, but since his principal venue was Vegas, he, like Elvis, gave his audience what they expected.

    • brianna

as usual it would’nt be the same without a troll or two

    • gutmybootson

      Whose Liberace?

    • guest

      Oooh, a troll!
Reading EW articles is only half the fun without some demented troll whoring for attention.

    • romeo

So what about the 50% male audience that was there? FAIL, troll.

  • Snicks

Good review, but since you mention that all ages were represented at Adam’s concert last night, why begin and organize the review around the “puzzling fact” that women “of a certain age” enjoy his music? Why discuss a “middle aged woman” from New Zealand instead of just “a woman from New Zealand?” Why contribute to ageist stereotypes that idol seems to foster?

By the way, there is nothing puzzling about the fact that women in this age group, or any age group, are attending his concerts. True, he may throw a good party, but the real reason women are showing up is because his voice is absolutely incredible, his personality uber charismatic, his interviews articulate, honest, fresh and engaging, and finally, the man is himself is stunning and sexy as all get out.

Female fans of a certain age, and others outside their “puzzling” bracket, are wildy attracted to the man and his talent, and the fact that Adam is batting for the other team doesn’t make one bit of difference. Sexy is sexy, and Adam Lambert delivers.

    • wanderer

      STANDING O!!!

    • an

Yeah, how old is Slezak again?

    • Fever

There’s heterosexuality, homosexuality, and Adam Lambert Sexuality. Unique unto itself. LOVE YOU ADAM!

  • WinkyD

“Women of a certain age” love Adam not only for the same reasons all his fans do, but also because we know Rock. We were there at its inception. We supported Led Zeppelin back in the day, and we support Adam’s sensual cover of WLL today.

We have remained consistent in our life-long love of great Rock and Pop singers.

Adam is now added to the list.

  • elbee

So Proud of ADAM LAMBERT ! OH i LOVE HIS VOCAL, CHARISMA, and PEFORMANCE on LIVE STAGE ! No one in this decade can beat him !!
