As a fan of Doctor Who, electronica duo Orbital, and the Glastonbury Festival, I really wish I had a TARDIS—that’s a Time And Relative Dimension In Space vehicle to you non-Whovians—so I could travel five hours back in time and several thousand miles across the Atlantic. Why? Because then I could watch current Doctor Who Matt Smith perform the show’s theme tune with the aforementioned techno nabobs at this year’s event.
Fortunately, while time travel remains in the domain of science fiction, YouTube is very much science fact. I’ve embedded video of this live collaboration between Smith and the brothers Hartnoll after the jump. Check it out and tell us what you think. Personally, I think it’s rather bangin’—though younger readers may need to travel back to the early ’90s to find out quite what I mean by that.

Cool. Somehow, I couldn’t imagine this happening in the US. I don’t think I could picture David Caruso onstage with The Who to perform Won’t Get Fooled Again.
I can’t imagine it working in the US because most people wouldn’t know anything about Dr. Who and how awesomely cool that would be to watch live.
Matt Smith, get your butt over to the US and do some talk shows! I dream of the day you and Craig Ferguson get together to geek out over Doctor Who
That could be the greatest thing ever
Craig, if you can read, BOOK MATT SMITH NOW!
Someone needs to start that Facebook group!!
OH MY GOODNESS. Mr. Collis, I am right there with you in the TARDIS
Thank goodness for YouTube is right!
what you said is not ture!
Geeking out right now!!!
As a Whovian I have to correct you on TARDIS, it’s Time and Relative Dimension (no s) in Space. Otherwise the sound is kinda iffy and I could just listen to Doctorin’ the Tardis (KLF/Timelords) for some electronic Who fun. Matt Smith seems fun though.
While that’s what the Doctor says, other characters have said it with the “s”. And it made sense back before the dimensions were closed off.
I’m going to take the Doctor’s word on the acronym. Lots of people say things their own way, it doesn’t make them right.
Signum has a great tune called “Timelord” as well. Sounds quite a bit like the theme.
The KLF/Timelords version is far superior (seriously people, go to youtube and seatch for “the timelords” and take a listen.) But it was still very cool of Matt Smith to join in.
So now he wants some sympathy with all his fake crocodile tears? Please, give me a break! No dounbt the woman beater can dance, but MJ wasn’t a woman beater,so no he shouldn’t have had a chance to paya tribute to him. When he gets some help and show some remorse for his actions, then he might get some acceptance! One things for sure, white america will never forgive his abusive azz! Only ghetto, young azz BET followers will.Womp! Womp!
Er, I think you posted this comment on the wrong page.
Poor little lost lamb…
Well, this must be the first time somebody confused Chris Brown and Matt Smith.
Oh good lord. I think I just died and went to Heaven. Makes me even more upset that I’m missing Comic-con.
hey so you dont feel bad there isnt a doctor who panel this year at comic con.
BBC will have a booth but the only show panel they are doing is being human
Nerdgasim.
Cool. But I still prefer the un-techno’ed theme.
Matt Smith could you be more amazing?! Loved it! I loved how he added in “timey wimey” in the intro too.
Love this. Thank God for youtube indeed! Many reasons to have wanted to be at Glastonbury. This would have been a highlight!
Nobody listens to techno!
thanks!!!!!
I don’t get it, it’s the same beat, same bass line, same melody repeated like 20 times. At least they could have changed key at some point. Oh yeah: it’s techno.
