In a sweet reminder that the kid’s barely out of Degrassi — and in today’s other big tour-cancellation news — Drake is postponing his European tour to stay home and tend to his mom, who’s undergoing surgery.
According to a statement, the rapper says, “Despite my best hopes, it is apparent that my mother will need surgery earlier than anticipated. In light of this news, I have made the difficult decision to cancel my European tour in order to support her during her recovery, just as she supported me through the years. I cannot thank my European fans enough and look forward to performing abroad soon. I ask everyone to please respect my family’s privacy during this time.”
The shows in London, Paris, and Amsterdam will be rescheduled for November 2010 (where ideally they will not cause any riots); festival dates are flat-out cancelled. Bummer for you Euros, but we wish Drake’s mom all the best, and hope you’ll join us in a hearty “Awwww…”

being there to take care of a parent after surgery is not a mamma’s boy but the sign of a good child who was raised right. His fans will love him more for this but I’m sure that’s not why he did it.

I’d do the same for my mom, she brought me in this world and supported me thru thick and thin, I won’t be able 2 pay her back for bringing me in this world or for growing me up but the least I can do is give support. I’m a momma’s boy and I say it proudly! If we don’t show our momma’s love when they alive, then why do it when they dead ask yourselves this question… Drake you got the world supporting u and your family through this…
