Tonight VH1 airs the season finale of Behind the Music with R&B titan Usher. It chronicles the 31-year-old’s climb from choir boy to pop-music icon. VH1 just released a 10-minute preview, and there’s loads of debauchery, which started with hip-hop impresario Diddy (then Puff Daddy) in the early ’90s. When Usher was a young teen, he was sent to Diddy’s Flavor Camp in New York to sharpen his swagger. There he says he was surrounded by “sex, drugs, orgies…” and presumably more. The story builds to the ugly breakup with TLC’s Chili that set the tone for his R&B opus Confessions. He’d later marry Tameka Foster, proclaiming his love for her and his grown up ways on Here I Stand. Then he’d follow up with his latest effort Raymond V Raymond after divorcing her. This guy’s life has been a trip. Check out the preview after the jump.

Behind the music, haha. Was I the only one who saw him on american idol and thought he was a kicked off contestant? Death of auto-tune, I wish.
Behind the music has had its best season since the 90s this year. But the highlight was Courtney Love. I love Usher but I doubt his will be more entertaining than Ms. Loves.
I’m sure there will be more focus on that 2-year marriage with Tameka Foster and what led him to do the personal song “Papers” on his current album. It won’t focus on his music career–they’ll always ask him about that for years to come.
I have no interest what so ever. Usher has become a bit of a bore with his music and dancing.
Usher’s one of the greatest artists out there, can’t wait to watch VH1 2night!!!
I loved the behind the music tonight I am going to watch it over and over again I love Usher I am a fan of him watching that brought back memories like when he was with chilli they were a cute couple and him now being the king of r&b it is just amazing and his mom just the bond that they have together is stong
That was a good episode! It kept u interested from beginning to the end! Nice to hear the true stories of whats been going on…
WELL I HAVEN’T WATCH IT YET BUT I’M LOOK’N FORWARD..USHER MUSIC IS NT THAT GREAT AS HIS MUSIC IN THE 90′S EARLY 2000′S… IDK AFTER HIS MARRIAGE W/TAMEKA FOSTER HIS LAST TWO ALBUMS WENT DOWN…
I watched it and found it missing a lot of information. It did not cover a lot with his childhood, his father, his acting, his broadway stint.
I love Usher…no matter what!!! I even loved his “Here I stand” album, people are sooo critical. It was the bomb, love it, love it, love it!
I love u usher
Well I watch it and it was really good. I just love usher he is the best he Will never get old to me. Its sad things did not work out with chille but it was good I think I will watch it again!!!!!
USHER BEHIND THE MUSIC WAS VERY GOOD BECAUSE IT WAS TALKING ABOUT HIS LIFE AND PERSONAL LIFE TO. I REALLY EJOY IT, AND PLUS HIS KIDS IS VERY IMPORANT TO HIM IN HIS LIFE. I LOVE USHER SO DAM MUCH AS A FAN AND FRIEND AT THE SAME TIME. GOD BLESS.
Great article. I cant wait to hear more about your research tool. If it is as good as your other products, then you will have another winner. Your article pretty much summed up what I have been seeing too. Great to see some hard data.
