Susan Boyle reportedly planning Christmas album

susan-boyleImage Credit: Daniele Venturelli/Getty ImagesIs Susan Boyle making a Christmas album? According to a report in Billboard citing unnamed “U.S. retail sources,” the Scottish sales phenomenon is currently in the studio recording a Yule-themed set for a potential October release. A spokesperson for Columbia Records confirms that Boyle is in the process of recording her second album, but was unable to confirm whether or not it has anything to do with the holidays.

Boyle’s debut, I Dreamed A Dream, sold more than three million copies in the U.S. in just over a month after being released late last November, making her follow-up a very big deal within the music industry. What do you think of this report? Would you buy a Susan Boyle Christmas album?

I wish her well, but I’m not sure if her second album will be a hit or not… does Susan Boyle have a devoted following that is eagerly awaiting a second album, or was her debut a big seller mostly because of the curiosity value, due to all the attention she had gotten from her YouTubed appearances on that British talent show (and her subsequent, highly-publicized breakdown)? The sales of the second album will probably be crucial in determining whether she has a real career ahead of her, or if she was just a one-hit wonder. But I hope she is successful; she clearly has a lot more talent than many top-selling singers.

Based on her performances of “I Dreamed a Dream” I bought the first album. And was subsequently hugely disappointed. I can’t see her having a credible career in the music industry. She has a lovely amateur talent but she lacks depth. I have a lot of Christmas albums already and can’t see myself buying this one. It will only lay at the bottom of the pile never to be listened to again after the first time. Sadly, like her “I Dreamed a Dream” does now.

Wow Anna, hugely dissapointed, lacks deph, amateur talent. Jeesh you must be some fan of music when you have a pileyou never listen to. No credible career, boy do you talk some utter nonsense dear, when it was announced in the uk she would be releasing a second album, amazon uk recieved over 2 million requests worldwide, wild horses,i dreamed a dream, cry me a river all considered the best cover versions ever. i wish every stones album i owned or fleetwood mac or many artistes i own had every single track a 10 out of 10, but they do not. many world class artistes have recorded albums that have failed badly. Susan boyle has 350 million fans, and you think because you and others will not buy it that it will still not sell millions. boy do you talk some rubbish dear

I would not buy a Christmas album, but they sell like crazy (eg. Josh Groban & that Bocelli guy)

  • nodnarb

Fantastic! Her last album got huge laughs at our gag gift party.

    • andy

yes nodnarb ( must have taken you all yr to realise how to spell brandon backwards ) but not as big a laugh as when your family saw you at birth eh

  • Mike

You better believe she has devoted fans. Music industry sources said a month or so ago, when her album went up for pre-sale orders. that based on those figures, she’s expected to sell 2 million worldwide on the first day of release.

  • paige

first an album of covers and now an album of christmas standards… how shockingly original!

    • Jackie

It’s not a Christmas album, according to Susan herself. This story is silly.

    • andy

is that as shockingly original as the stones first 5 singles which were all covers. must be cool to have a mind like yours that makes sarah palin look smart

  • JPX

God, isn’t this homely woman’s 15 minutes up yet?

    • andy

Now now Jpx, did not your mother tell you how silly you were when you made that same remark over a yr ago. when she sees you have typed the same again she will surely trade you in for a pet monkey you silly little man

  • ss06

Hope this is true – she is a class act.

  • Gary

I love Susan Boyle and so do millions of others. But I won’t be buying a Christmas album for any reason .I suspect many will buy one tho.

    • Rand

Yes, I would definitely buy a Christmas album of hers, but I don’t believe this album will be all Christmas songs. Not from what I’ve read, and comments from her manager.

  • Jane B.

I love Susan Boyle and would buy any album she makes. I agree with Rand, however, that from what her fans have heard, this is not going to be an album of all Christmas songs.

  • Tricia

“does Susan Boyle have a devoted following that is eagerly awaiting a second album”…Yes!

  • happyguy27701

Let’s get Susan Boyle, Alvin Greene, and Heidi Montag on Celebrity Jeopardy. Susan Boyle can sing a song at the end, since there would be no Final Jeopardy.

  • Jackie

This story is absolutely wrong. The original article calls it an “as yet untitled” Christmas album. The album is called “The Gift,” according to her website, and according to Susan’s interviews, it is NOT a Christmas album.

    • andy

Jackie now you stop that, you are doing something the loopy brigade are not aware of. it is called research, what you have said has been common knowledge for quite a while and as you have common sense jackie you get a gold star dear

  • Preston

Go on, girl! Susan’s not messing around! Look forward to her Christmas album. I hope she gets new producers to handle this project as well as her second pop album. I hope she does all new songs for her pop album; don’t live on remakes so much.

  • Maureen

I would love a Christmas album from Susan! I think she has a lovely voice!

  • Joycelena

I would buy a Christmas album no problem. Also I would buy anything Susan Boyle records. I love her voice.
