Cruising down the highway in a convertible with her welterweight hunk, Katy Perry‘s “Teenage Dream” video kicks off in true California cool fashion. With friends they stop off at the beach, stripping down to their bathing suits. There isn’t much true action here. It’s more like a chilled out video diary, chronicling an amazing day, and culminating in a passionate one-on-one romp with her man. Visually, the clip was wonderfully shot with a graying effect that dulls down what otherwise would’ve been the cliche sunny day in L.A. video we see all the time. Check out the video after the jump.

I like the song. it is growing on me. The video resembles soft core p@rn. Not that there is anything wrong with that…
The video’s a blast, and a nice change from the over-produced, over-saturated romp of “California Gurls.” That being said, I kind of wish the entire video was what Katy WANTED to do with this boy, sort of using the high school scene where she’s watching with with the punching bag as a frame… Regardless, catchy tune, sounds like she’s got a fun, Cali-soaked end-of-summer album on the way.
Her audience is teenies and she’s making soft porn. What the heck? Save us from this crap please!!!
Her entire audience is not just teens, and this video barely resembles soft porn. Clearly, Miley Cyrus and Taylor Momsen bag more STDS in their videos than Katy.
Please. It’s not even that bad. Tyler Momsen’s definitely worse, what with being a 17 year old traipsing around in lingerie all the time. The video’s a nice change from her usual stuff with all the costumes and fantasies. She should wear less make-up more often, she’s much more beautiful that way.
The guy is way too hot for her.

I actually think this song is really good. It’s more of an “acquired taste” for me (it took me 2 listens to like it) but I think it shows a different side of her.
A lot of people think she’s some air-headed bimbo who squirts cream from her boobs and I think this song proves them wrong. Lyrics are good, MV is not as explicit and the song is slightly more “serious”.
And honestly, soft core porn? What about “Telephone”? Wasn’t that worse? And fyi, I seem to recall that it was a huge hit and people didn’t seem to mind just because it was so “Gaga”.
P.S. I do like “Telephone”, in case you thought I didn’t.
It’s heads and shoulders better than California Gurls, but it still hasn’t convinced me to buy the CD when it comes out.
