Here we are now, YouTube, entertain us! I was browsing my Twitter feed this morning when I stumbled upon this gem: Go Home Productions posted a mix of two fantastic (understatement) artists who might be gone, but will not be forgotten any time soon: Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and a then-13-year-old Michael Jackson’s “Rockin’ Robin.”
And now, thanks to the wonder of technology, we can enjoy BOTH songs at the same time. Color me excited. Watch the video after the jump.
Suffice it to say that I now have both of these songs stuck in my head. And the next time I head to a rollerskating rink, I’m requesting this song. What do you think of the mashup? And are there other MJ/Nirvana songs that deserve to go head-to-head?

Effin’ awful. I kept waiting for the Jackson Five to bust back in with Rockin’ Robin but this was obviously a one-sided mashup… When the guy spat on the camera I was like “That’s it, I’m Done.”
“The guy” was Kurt Cobain.
LOL. Yes, love him or hate him, “the guy” was genuine rock legend Kurt Cobain and the vocals were Nirvana’s while the instrumental stuff was pretty much all Rockin’ Robin….so I’m not sure where you’re getting “one-sided” from. I thought this was hilarious…turning “Smells Like Teen Spirit” into a bouncey, finger-popping fluffy little song? Who knew it could be done?? I’m not a huge Nirvana fan, but I love a good mashup between such disparate source material.
thats basically how mash-ups tend to work, since you cant have two different sets of vocals going at the same time….

nice one, for the compilation and selection , coordination and arrangement of its content. definitely “youre an artist!’ -combining 1 of the best heavy metal thunder and an the jackson 5 video. this is not about spitting people. its a two different genre! You cant expect kurt to smile in a ROCK METAL VIDEO!
