Axl Rose cancels Guns N' Roses tour via Twitter?

axl-roseImage Credit: Landmark/PR PhotosNo one ever quite knows what Axl Rose is going to do next — not even his own bandmates. The one-of-a-kind frontman posted a tersely worded note on Twitter yesterday (h/t Vulture): “All upcoming Guns N’ Roses dates are officially cancelled. Please contact your place of purchase for any refunds.” This came as a surprise to the official GNR Twitter account. “Well well well, you never can tell,” they sheepishly replied a couple of hours later. “We are looking into this tweet.”

Guns N’ Roses’ official site still lists a raft of upcoming dates across Europe, so you might want to hold on a sec before claiming that refund. We are, as they say, looking into it. UPDATE: Organizers of the U.K.’s Reading and Leeds Festivals issued a statement calling the cancellations mere “rumours”: “Festival Republic are informed by GN’R management that Guns N’ Roses have NOT cancelled their performances at Reading & Leeds and that Axl Rose’s Twitter account was hacked into and all claims of dates being cancelled are unfounded.”

‘Til any more solid information emerges, what do you think of this story? Were you planning to attend any of those GNR shows? Will you be disappointed if they’re really the latest milestone in this Summer of Sadness for the concert biz?

Just jettison this “G-n-R coverband” you’ve got going on Axl and reunite with Slash!
Chinese Democracy was a horrible solo project that you disguised with the Guns-n-Roses name.
    All can be forgiven.

eh, I don’t think Slash would take his sorry butt back after all the drama. Seems like Slash has plenty to keep him busy without having to deal with Axl’s teenage BS.

I saw Guns and Roses in concert at the Rock and Rev show in Sturgis over the weekend and all I can say is “WOW!” Axel…thanks for the memories. Dead on awesome and unbelievable. It’s worth hanging on to those tickets! Slash who?!?…It was that good!

Attended the GNR show in Sturgis, SD on friday night. Axl sounded better than ever and appeared to be in great shape. After a technical glitch from the camera crew that took over an hour to fix, they played for 2 hours. Amazing show, way more than I expected, even did a cover of another brick in the wall. It really bothers me that a select few were instigating a riot. Throwing beer bottles, smoke bombs, yelling obsceneties towards Axl. You almost ruined it for those of us that wanted to see the show. I often wonder what would drive a person to throw anything on the stage. Trying to impress a girlfriend? Insecurities? Stupidity? No brains? To those that left, thank you! I got to get that much closer to the stage. To those that were yelling..”play something we know!” Go but the cd you cheap bastard. Dont go and complain about the music if you have never even heard it. How are they supposed to get the new material out to the people? Way too many stupid people in this world. The problem with the gene pool is that there is no lifeguard. If anybody from GNR is reading this I can tell you that this was NOT South Dakota behavior! I witnessed those that were starting it and they definitely were not local. I have attended numerous shows in South Dakota including GNR many years ago, and am proud to say that this does not happen here. I am sorry that the band and Axl had to put up with this b.s. Thanks for coming to SD for only stop of 2010 and hope to see you again soon. For the doubters out there, you are not true fans anyway, therefore nobody cares what you think or have to say!
