Swell-Season-Marketa-GlenImage Credit: Al Pereira/WireImage.comThe Swell Season have responded to the apparent suicide of a man at their concert in Saratoga last night by posting a statement on their facebook page. “The band, crew and all involved with them are shocked and saddened by the death that occurred at last night’s show,” the message says. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the deceased, his family and friends.”

According to SF Weekly, the man jumped from a roof and fell approximately three stories to the stage, landing just a few feet from singer Glen Hansard.

Incredibly shocking and sad. I hope the band is doing ok. This couldn’t have happened to nicer people. Man, I’m truly sorry.

    • Stormy

No disrespect intended here. Twice in a week is startling. Hope this doesn’t start a trend of copycat distressed young people who decide to off themselves at concerts. Tragic.

    How rude! [/stephanie tanner]

      Full House reference…? Really?!?

      • SG

        Ha Jay . . . Agreed.

I was at their show in Brooklyn and it was legitimately the best concert I’ve ever been to. It was in my top 5 favorite moments. So in addition to the family of the man who died, I feel sorry for all the fans and the band who now have to associate such a great concert with such tragedy.

  • foosball

So was it a good show or not?

May peace be with the family of the lost, the band and the fans that saw it.

Wow… how sad. Also startling and upsetting for the band. Hard to keep moving on to another city after something like that…
Weird to ask, but did Marketa cut her hair short or is it just up? Can’t tell from the picture, and haven’t seen them live since November.

    • l

Yes, she cut it short. (Peter Pan style)

That’s a terrible thing to have happened. I wondered what prompted the man to take his life?
