I beg to differ Nathan.I have seen Carrie in concert and she is far from boring.She’s vastly more entertaining then Keith Urban who spends the night looking at the floor playing guitar like no one else is there.How is that entertaing? Carrie’s voice is superb and she brings it at every concert I’ve seen.The ABC show last night showed that.Now Miranda ,Miranda is just plain dull as is Lady A.They have no charisma at all.At CMAFest ZBB managed to bore everyone to tears with their set.
she doesn’t have a superb voice. maybe technically it’s good, but she has zero soul and you don’t feel a thing when she sings. she’s a total skanky fembot.

Carrie has more then a superb voice. Sheis the best vocalist to grace country music in years. You are wrong on so many levels. Calling her names doesn’t make you any less ignorant then you are.
Carrie shows TONS of emotions when she sings, and she is a college graduate, hardly a skank. She is a nice girl with no scandels, no drugs, no arrests, etc. so for you to call her a skank is just pathetic. She is a great interpretive singer and she has tons of soul and shows emotion when she sings.
Honestly, I think it’s a combination of the country industry not knowing how to recognize multiple women at a time (it’s still a total boys club) and the voters wanting to spread the love a little bit. I can see them not recognizing Taylor because she’s still between album cycles, which is a legitimate reason IMO, though.
These comments are starting off with wrong information. Carrie is a song writer, a guitarist, a piano player, and a great performer. Some of you Taylor Swift fans should go to Carrie’s wholesome concerts instead of going to the lady Gaga of country (mostly pop) concerts.
Right on, Whitney! It’s a horrible oversight for the CMAs to make again. There’s absolutely no legitimate reason why Carrie shouldn’t be in the same category as Miranda Lambert, who is of course phenomenal, too. Also, although Keith Urban is also a legitimately fantastic country star, what has he done this year to garner a nomination for Entertainer of the Year? I’m sad to see Carrie not getting the all CMA love she deserves after a great year!

If you have been to a Play On concert of Carrie’s you cannot possibly say it is boring. What is boring about being in the back of a pick up truck singing while it is high in the air. And there are so many many exciting details to her concerts.

*Remind everyone what a great ambassador for country music she truly is
Awards–they are fleeting. Talent and class are timeless.
Carrie may co – write, but I doubt very much she contributes much more than a few words or two. Plus, she is a boring entertainer and when she tries to get into it, she looks like a chicken flapping her arms and strutting across the stage. She has a great voice, but I think she is just a puppet in the industry. She doesn’t push herself any, and just does what’s expected of her. Miranda is a much better writer, just as good a vocalist, and better entertainer.PERIOD!
Have you been to any of Carrie’s “Play On” shows? If you haven’t please go before you right silly things like this. You have no idea weather Carrie writes more then a few words or not. You can’t judge her songwriting.. because every single she’s put out has gone #1 & allot of those are her co-writes. Miranda is wonderful but she doesn’t come close to Carrie. Carrie’s “Play On” show is an awesome show & def Entertainer Of The Year worthy! She’s beautiful, INCREDIBLY talented, & a GREAT add to Country music!!
Bruce- you are just a delusional hater. Carrie is a much better vocalist then Miranda, though I love Miranda too. Even Miranda herself admitted that Carrie is a better vocalist then her. I think Miranda might be a slightly better songwriter then Carrie, but Carrie is still good. You have no clue what you are talking about. Carrie is incredible live, is an amazing performer, and you are just a hater with no clue.
I like Miranda.went to one of her concerts for my birthday at which she got into some kindof confrontation with a fan and left the stage without even finishing the concert, Not much respect for the restof the fans who paid good money to see her and not my idea of a ambassador for country music, not a very good concert either. on theother hand wentmto carries concert and it was the besgti have ever heard or seen Unbelievable voice. am going again. wouldn’t pay money to see Miranda again .I wonder if the

Miranda has her strengths as a song writer, vocalist and entertainer. Carrie has her strengths as a vocalist and entertainer too. Miranda may deserve her nomination, but that doesn’t mean Carrie doesn’t deserve one. Please don’t use one to put down the other.

OK. I have to say – this is one of the best articles I’ve read on this situation. thanks for posting some truth! : ) I’ve shared this on twitter & facebook because I think everybody should see it. Carrie has done everything & more she could have to get a EOTY nomination & win. The cmas hold something against Carrie & don’t award her with HARDLY ANY awards. Then they ask her to come host to get their show great ratings/views because they know Carrie has many fans & then know we’ll watch her host, so all their worried about is them selves. or so it seems. I am sad for Carrie (even though I know awards aren’t everything to her) but I really hope the CMAs think better next time.. because I know of allot of people who are boycotting the CMAs.

Don’t know why this article has turned into an artist vs artist thing. It should really be about the CMAs and Carrie’s lack of EOTY nominations.
Whitney, thanks for such a thoughtful article, especially as yesterday was such a rough day.
My apologies on behalf of the more level headed Carrie fans.
When you look at each point separately it makes sense that it can only be the female factor. However, I actually think it’s a combination of everything. Carrie was elevated to the top from AI so she’s not like the other AI country stars because they are currently working their way up now and in that sense paying their dues. Miranda was already pursing a music career before she made it to Nashville Star but Carrie was just leading a normal life so again the “hasn’t paid her dues theory”. Others with pop leaning tunes such as Taylor and Keith came from the Nashville fold, Carrie was an outsider. So although the female factor is likely one of the main reasons she’s been excluded, I really believe it’s because she encompasses all of the qualities that the CMA voters fear that she was not nominated.
Hopefully one day the CMA voters can get their heads out of their *SS and recognize how much of Carrie has done for country music including bringing over new and international fans to country music.
Little known fact: Carrie had a record deal at age 13 with Capitol Records,that fell through unfortunately when management changed. Thus she was not just “living a normal life as you said.” She has 3 demo cds out that I have from when she was a young teen, and she worked hard in local country bands, singing at county fairs, talent shows, etc, since she was age 13 to get a record deal. She more then paid her dues LONG BEFORE SHE went on Idol. Problem is, no one knows this, so they assume falsely that Carrie walked onto the American Idol stage having never sung a note before in her life. Total lie. Carrie paid dues for almost 10 years before she went on American Idol as a last resort. I have her demos if you don’t believe me, and there are youtube videos of her competing at talent shows at age 14.
I guess 13 #1′s isn’t enough to be nominated for CMA EOTY! I don’t understand nor will I ever! I just feel like CMA uses Carrie for rates and viewers, considering they asked her to Co-host for a third year, and they used Carrie as the Face of CMA Fest! The nominations this year don’t add up in general! ZBB shouldn’t be nominated for Best New Artist AND EOTY! Makes no sense… And Luke Bryan is no longer a new artist! The nominations are almost all the same few songs. Great article… And I don’t know what she has to do to get nominated, guess Flying-trucks aren’t enough either… Btw Carrie is incredible live! (:
Thank you so much for your well written article. You pointed out just about every Carrie fans complaint and I thank you for that. No one could be more deserving of the EOTY award than Carrie – I won’t even back track to say a nomination is sufficient – for what she has accomplished just this year, let alone all the years combined w/o so much as a nod. It’s a pure travesty that someone can work as hard as she did and not be commended for it in the way it counts to the artist. CMT voters should be more than ashamed of themselves and I for one will never give the award shows the credibility I once did. They change the citeria in a whim and for the artist they want to receive it. 3 of the artists nominated had hardly begun their headlining tours, let alone offered to the fans what Carrie did this year. I could continue to vent but sure you’ve heard it all already! But again, thank you for your article – you made this fan happy!
I admit I was shocked she didn’t get nominated for this elusive award that is still not hers. Especially as some country sites gave their pre-nomination entertainer nods to Carrie saying it was her’s to lose. I mean the year she has had ..her show, her stint on “When I met your Mother”, her tours, her single successes and she has a bit part in a movie out next year. But the main thing Carrie has is a God -given voice that can’t be denied. I wonder if Arista Nashville threw their block vote all in for Miranda this year with Brad as their main guy? I love Miranda in all the categories except this one. I think Brad will get entertainer this year with Miranda getting the rest of the nominations. How did Lady A get a nod for Entertainer when they were the opening act for Tim McGraw?
WOW! I think that the CMA’s SHOULD re think their nominations! Carrie and Taylor both deserved to be nominated…why they aren’t who knows?? But I KNOW Carrie has had a HUGE year, and their not nominating her is OUTRAGEOUS!
you want us to tell you why carrie hasn’t been nominated? well i can’t answer that for you…because she should be! there is absolutely no reason that any of the other nominees should be there over carrie! she has done so much this past year and had a very big tour that got great critical reviews. there simply isn’t any more that carrie can do to be in this category, so if she isn’t nominated now…i can’t see how she ever will be, which is completely unfair. thumbs down to the CMAs.
