I think that this is some of Kanye’s best work in a couple years. 808′s and heartbreak was terrible but this song here just felt real. No crappy autotune and he doesn’t need it. I think that this song was fitting for how everyone was portraying him across the world and I think he sort of is embracing being the “douchebag” and has accepted that he needs to make a change.

I can see your point, but the demise of our youth’s morals is evident in this “song” as well as Kanye’s performance. Everything about it is wrong. Why are we giving praise and attention to a song that encourages us to “toast to the douchebags…and a-holes?”

Just because you don’t get his music really doesn’t mean you can make broad generalizations about the man, his music, or his fans. Obviously many people think he’s talented, he keeps working in the industry and still sells records after 10+ yrs.
Many people originally disliked jazz or rock because it was different and they thought it was utter garbage. Hop hop is.coming into it’s own on the world stage, but it won’t speak toeveryone because we’re not all built the same.

The light show blew me away at the VMAs. I was really impressed that Kanye West came out on stage and started the synth beat with his controller and then started the song. Let’s face it. The rumors were running rampant. Both Kanye and Taylor Swift were going to be back at the VMAs for the second straight year. Last year Kanye embarrassed himself in front of a huge audience in front of Taylor Swift. In the end, Kanye created his song, and Swift created hers. It’s finally over. Everyone can move on from this debacle and PR nightmare. I think that this song is decent. However, I’m glad that Kanye made it. He needed to show everyone that he’s not an egotistical freak and needs to present that he know’s he can be a piece of work. It’s tough to say now, but I think with the rest of the new album he’s set to release that it’ll put 808s and Heartbreak to waste.

Yeah after reading a few of the comments on here it’s clear this is one of the many places where the racist come to hate on a man they simply don’t understand. Some of you should be a ashamed. Judging Kanye only show how much of a hypocrite you really are.

Seriously. Worst excuse for a performance ever. The music clashed, the colors clashed, gangsta’ ballerinas?! Why did they even let him back at the award show? If this is a comeback he can turn around and go-back to wherever he came from. I don’t care about his business last year at the VMAs, this in and of itself was awful. If you include last year and this being his “humble return”? He asks you to toast him for being an a-hole That’s not humble, that’s condoning his behaviour and ignoring it, not forgiving and working towards a better future.
Kudos. You’re still a d-bag, but I like your music even less.

Exactly!!! But that is art baby. Kanye is The new Micheal Jackson.

The ghost of Michael Jackson should smack you upside your head for that comment.

  • Jay

@jackson .. am .. as kanye only started using autotune .. ur comment is clearly irrelevant.. also .. the mans just different .. his beats are amazing .. and sometimes soulful .. every rapper out there jus regurgitating the same foolishness .. when i listen to kanye .. i hear a difference .. enough said

I agree 100%..as if people already can’t have minds of their own half the time w/ the influence of this crap media..then songs like this come out

Shady parenting is more to blame. Parents pretending douchbags don’t exist is worse parenting.

So Kayne so talented. His production is sick. It takes me back to Late Registration but it takes me forward too. I really like Power and Monster – but Runaway is like WHOAAAAA! Love it!

  • KSH

Oh snap hope he doesn’t see that “Kayne” lol Spazz out – it’s Kanye my bad. LOL!

  • jerry

yo haters, your all just jealous of one of the most talented artists out there, and so what bout the vma’s taylor’s cool to but now she’s stronger fools, and this song was amazing, and in the name of this song im puttiing up a toast to you dousche bags who dont have anything better to do than hate on him

  • u

He’s an ass, but a talented ass, no matter what anyone says. He’s been polarizing from day one, and yes, that’s entirely his doing. But people are acting like he’s the worst human being that has ever lived. Axl Rose, Morrissey, are they not a-holes and d-bags too? Worse than Kanye, even? And do we not enjoy their talent in spite of their character flaws? Exactly.

  • Aaron

Anyone who has commented something negative on here, something completely irrelevant to this article or throwing racism into this makes me laugh. Your comment will not change anything. Go on with life as Kanye West will go on with his.

“If they hate then let them hate, and what the money pile up.” And that’s exactly what this man is doing. Even if you hate his music, he’s still got more money than all of us on the message board combined, so someone’s gotta like what he’s doing. (Guilty as charged.)

every tine kanye puts out an album, as a visual artist i get inspired to change up my style and i find a expression of myself. as a person i can relate to the humanity
