Image Credit: Danny ClinchYou’d have to go a long way to find someone who likes the death metal-themed Adult Swim cartoon show Metalocalypse as much as I skreeeeak-ing do. In fact, you might have to go as far as Seattle, or wherever the the assorted members of the recently reformed Soundgarden call home these days. The grunge icons have proven their love by recruiting Metalocalypse co-creator Brendon Small to oversee the clip for “Black Rain,” a Badmotorfinger-era outtake that features on Soundgarden’s upcoming retrospective CD Telephantasm.
In truth, the video is not as funny as Metalocalypse—or funny at all, really. But it does boast giant monsters, a huge ‘Garden-controlled robot thingummybob, Metalocalypse stars Dethklok, and a nicely epic and phantasmagorical vibe. It also features a hard-to-miss plug for Guitar Hero, the latest version of which—Warriors of Rock—is released September 28 and is initially available for purchase with copies of Telephantasm included.
You’ll find footage from the “Black Rain” video after the break. Take a look, and tell us what you think!

Love Soundgarden. After all these years I still hate great 90s rock bands being called grunge.
No, you won’t have to go far to find that big a fan. Only as far as Brooklyn and me.
Was looking forward to this. Way cool and neat to see Dethklok in it. Nicely animated. Now, if only the new episodes of Metalocalypse would get here.
30 seconds is not enough.

Good! It’s time for heavy metal to dominate the world and get rid of parasitic pop music!!!….MUWHAA HAAA HAAA HA!!!
I saw Soundgarden in 1989 opening for Voivoid. Then I saw SG open for Danzig, and then I saw SG open for GnR at MSG. And they sucked everytime. They got worst and sloppier as they played. Overrated act. And the singer sounds like he’s being flushed down a grungy toilet. I wish all these grunge acts would all shoot themselves already. Or OD.
