Some five weeks into tour—and several days after an unsettling appearance in Houston, Texas—Stone Temple Pilots have officially rescheduled a dozen dates in order to “take a short break.”
According to Craig Hlavaty of The Houston Press, the band took to the Woodlands stage on Sunday an hour or so after openers Black Rebel Motorcyle Club. He writes: “A report about Sunday night cannot come without word on Weiland’s condition onstage, in light of his lateness. He seemed off mentally, a little too meandering and talkative, bringing up his own past drug and alcohol abuse. At one point he did claim that he traded the hard stuff for boozing.”
In response to a flood of reader comments, many of them expressing extreme disappointment with the short set, Weiland’s odd behavior, and purported use of backing tapes, Hlvatay later elaborated: “Weiland’s banter in between songs was odd and confusing. He touched on using inner-ear monitors, the band’s first gigs, his own past drug use, what grunge means to him and why bands don’t destroy gear anymore. It just so happens we didn’t make the review about all this because we wanted to review the music, and not poke easy fun at what looked to be a public meltdown.”
He does also note that the band’s late start may have been due to travel difficulties; a commenter who works at a nearby airport posted that the band was delayed by management and airline miscommunication, and that Weiland had not yet landed in Houston when openers BRMC took to the stage.

I saw them about a month ago, and while I wasn’t as impressed with them live as I’d remembered them back at their peak in the 90′s, it was a decent show.
Weiland’s so talented, wish he could stay away from the bad stuff.
Drugs are a horrible thing, kids.
I saw an STP taped performance from their tour last year and Scott’s voice was wrecked. He was almost talking fast instead of singing, it was disjointed and I couldn’t watch. I remember seeing the band before the drugs in Dallas and he had a rocking voice and stage presence.
pretty sure that picture was taken on Parliment Hill in Ottawa when they were here in July 2009 – this news is disappointing … he seemed great a year ago.
You know, I was there Sunday and it was a longer inter-mission than an hour. The concert started at 7:00. He didnt get on stage until 10:30…2 whole hours after the intro went off. When he sung his oldies, it was good ONLY because you gotta love it but it was over within 45min. I’m SOOOOOOOOOOO glad I didnt pay to see them!!! never again
My Twitter timeline showed right at 10pm for stage time.
Why he did that
i love scott weiland and everything that goes along with hime. If he wants to share some personnal comments during his show, why not? The guys writes and sinds beautiful songs i want to hear anything hes got to say. I love him!
the ultimate rock star and one of earth’s top 10 singers.
scott: keep on trying, noone said it’d be easy!
Chop281Shop on April 18, 2010 Installed mine yesterday. It’s hrgiat. I may change my mind when wireless television monitors are released to receive the sling signal. As for now there are too many bugs. I used a 722 to run one television because I was contemplating wiring a spare bedroom. Using it for one television gave me a lot of versatility. I could have easily waited for that skinny sling dish is going to release and saved myself the $200 plus additional increased monthly rental fee.
Thanks for some other informative site. Where else may I get that type of information written in such a perfect means? I’ve a mission that I’m just now running on, and I have been at the glance out for such information.
