Katie, didn’t you have a granny? Sometimes age mellows people and since they have lived longer, they have experienced more and their opinions are usually more on the money: This song is a good song for radio and is very catchy and uplifting. . . it is only one side of Lee, his album will suprise you as his talent is never endless. . Keep singing Lee as this “granny” is listening!!!! Las Vegas’s oldest fan of Lee DeWyze

Hello Jean,Cool to see you posting :)
I do not agree. This is a pablum, meh, blah song lacking in the Lee Spirit. He is better than this, as attested by his previous CDs and the times I’ve seen him live. When he can pour his soul into something, he shines. But 19E wants their hits, so we’ll have to wait until album two till he’s free from their contractual clutches-the usual expected artistic chokehold AI puts on the winners. Ah well.

Lee will be fine. Once free of Jive, he can really let his rasp ring and let out the semi-quirky midwestern folkie side.

MP and Chicago’s still got his back.

Love anything he does. I am sick of Slezak. I think he needs to be fired.

    • eve

      then why read this?

      • torres

well if people are sick of Lee, why the hell are they reading this? It makes more sense for a Lee fan to read a review of his song (whether it’s written by Slezak or not) than a complete non-Lee fan to read one.

So my question to you, why are you reading this?

  • jrtr

Couldn’t agree more with this assessment of Lee’s single. You think they could have saved some of the words in the chorus for the rest of the song, which devolves into a mildly nauseating repetition of the phrase “sweet serendipity.”

  • lulu

    Yuk!

  • stella

What a surprise, Slezak doesn’t like Lee’s single. And I see the fans of a certain other Idol are here to add their negative voices. Can’t wait till this song is all over the radio!

    • eve

hope you arent holding your breath on waiting on it to be all over the radio.

      • torres

trust me, we dont have to hold our breath. We have no doubt that this song will get radio play

  • Poster

Good song…not the Lee vibe I expected, but definitely the vibe Idol pushes. I think it’s catchy, though…I can hear it getting radio play. Slezak’s becoming a little boringly predictable with his reviews, however. Maybe it’s time for someone with a little less bias (ie: rockerchickmania) to helm the EW Idol desk.

    • @Poster

Slezak’s is entitled to his opinion, even if you don’t agree. I actually thought he was pretty nice in his review, because I think the song is cheesy and couldn’t even listen all the way through. I wish Lee the best, but I have no desire to download this single or his album. Not me cup of tea.

  • mtlady

Do not care for this song at all. Will not be buying this…or the album when it drops. Not a Lee Dewyze fan before, and this has not changed my mind. But, I do wish him well with his CD.

I am a huge Lee fan but found myself feeling the same way about this song as I did when I first heard him sing his acoustic version of Beautiful Day–I wished he had recorded and released that version which was more true to himself. So I was waiting for this album to give us that and am sadly feeling that he settled for the over produced version of something that just missed the mark for me. I love the beginning and the last few words but find the chorus too wordy and rushed and not the Lee I love, but I still look forward to hearing the rest of the album and will support him.

  • dj

After listening to this song, one word you used in your review said it all for me: uffda.

  • Thad

it’s catchy but there are waaaaaay too many words in the bridge

  • Jean

Yuck! Sounds like a gruffer Bieber song. Doesn’t even have a hook

  • Bri

I think Lee chose a great song for his single and I cant wait for it to rise up the charts!!

  • Katie

I love anything that Lee sings. Can’t wait for the album.

  • ashley

I think the whole reason they changed the announced single to this one IS the similarity to Allen’s LLWD. They thought all the success Kris had with that single, that those same people would like this one. I think it was a mistake to release a first single so reminiscent of last years winner. It is almost like a knock off. People are already comparing the likeness of the two. I think something more original would have been the way to go.

    • ktct

I guess it’s just me, but I don’t hear the similarity. I am a fan of Kris Allen (as well as Adam Lambert), but didn’t really like this song.

      • josi

        I agree.

      • granger

I agree. LLWD is not some generic love song. It’s not even a love song. And that song sounds crisp while this one sounds like a sludgy mess.

      • Katie

I’ve never heard LLWD who sings that?

    • Mary

I don’t see why anyone would think this sounds like a song Kris would sing. Kris wouldn’t do cheesy. The lyrics in LLWD had meaning behind them, this song sounds like dripple. The only similarity is the songs are wordy. Good luck to Lee on singing this live.

  • eve

i thought it was auto tuned and my daughter said over produced and son agreed with me on the auto tuned. i have not listened thru to the end. cant. its just as i expected. horrible. i will say no more til after crystal makes her debut. she will blow it out of the water…im betting

    • torres

ok..well youre not a very smart gambler then. “Blow it out of the water”? she wouldnt even be able to cause a small ripple in a pond

    • sosa

i thought crystal was a slightly better singer than lee. however, from a selling cd point she will not do well. i do think she will have a bit more freedom and might be creating music she wants.
