Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block to tour together. Let the fainting commence

Rumors of this union made in former teeny-bopper heaven have been swirling since summer, but Ryan Seacrest confirmed reports of the cleverly titled NKOTBSB tour this morning on his radio show. You may scream now.

The tour will kick off in summer 2011, about one year after the two bands merged on stage for a performance at Radio City Music Hall in New York. (Clip below.) In fact, rumors of the bands’ joint tour started shortly after the Backstreet’s surprise appearance during the NKOTB concert in June. They’ll reunite next on Nov. 21 for a performance on the American Music Awards. Viewing party at my place.

Now, I have made no secret of my undying devotion to one band on this tour, but two for the price of one sounds even better to me, Mixers. But what about you? Are you as excited as I am for this musical merger? (You can be honest. I’m in no place to judge.) Feel free to join me in a squeal, a gasp of excitement, and a day-long NKOTB/BSB music marathon to celebrate.

    where the crap is nsync?

    • Allison

Hey, I’m 32 and childless and I’m seriously considering buying a ticket.

    • Carly

NSync are retaining their dignity by realizing they are no longer boys.

      • Paula

And NSYNC is staying broke besides Justin. Yeah they are doing great. NOT!

      • sally

Ahh Paula, the guys in NSync made so much money during that time they will NEVER be broke again.

    • Kate

Don’t mind that idiot, he trolls every post on EW.

    • aqw

jt wouldn’t touch that and no one would touch nsync without jt

    • Siansonea

Yeah, the only one more pathetic is…”Larry David”! A has-been always trumps a never-was.

    • Mary

Please…JT is his own show now!

    • kelly

Allison I am 37 with two kids and STILL going to buy a ticket. My inner teeny bopper is screaming her head off right about now

    • Preston

I’ve seen their recent performances on TV last year and recently and they’ve still got it with the moves and the performing itself! The energy is much better than when they were young in their earlier career. I think there are some people that are jealous and don’t see this tour succeeding.

    • Michelle

      And I’m 25 so….

    • vader1013

haha he does troll every post, doesn’t he? loser.

    • Heather

somebody is just jealous. I saw the NKOTB concert in 2009 and it was THE BEST show I have ever been too. They are GREAT entertainers. I might be a mom….but I’m only 24.

    • Amie

I am a mom and also an NKOTB fan and apparently Larry David does not know how dedicated us Blockheads are. Most of NKOTBs tours in the last 2 years have sold out, quit being a hater. I just love how people have to hate in order to make themselves feel better. Grow up! Still loving NKOTB at 35!

    • jess

      Nowhere cause they suck!

    • Pam

I am a 38 year old mom and my 17 year daughter and I went and seen the NKOTB 3 times this last year and it was her idea. Yes, they do still have it, I just hear somebody who wishes they still did. My Daughter also went and seen BSB this past summer, so the fan attraction of all age levels is there. It was great mother and daughter time and I wouldn’t knock anybody for that.

    • Patty

I’m only 15 years old & i love them! i love their music & i know alot of teenagers who love them too, i’m so going to their tour, Their music are still the freaking best♥ I don’t care if they’re 40 50 or even a 100 they’re still hot & i will always love them and their music.

  • Molly

AH omg i’m really excited and i’m in high school. i don’t think i’m weird. lol :D

    • Bubblez

I’m in high school too and super excited for this… Saw bsb this pass summer and loved them

  • elaine

@ Bruno: That’s the same thing that popped in my mind when I heard about this.

  • Miss Talk

Please AMAs showrunners , get rid of Rihanna as the opening act !
Those are my wallpapers boyfriends right here, they should be opening !!!
As for N’SYNC reunion, don’t worry, people. WE KNOW IT’S JUST A MATTER…

    • u

THEY. WILL. NOT. REUNITE. Why are N*Sync fans so delusional?

      • maj

i agree…. JT is way too successful for an NSYNC reunion, even though I would die and go to heaven if it happened..

      • leo

JC would never do it either. He’s doing well as head judge of America’s Best Dance Crew.

  • AC

    I. JUST. DIED.

    • rush

      hahaha that made me laugh!!!

  • rush

is this thing just for the states???? what about Europe!???

  • AJ Fan

    YEA BSBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB

  • Anne

What about Canada are they coming up here too? And where? Thanks

    • Rachel

I hope they come to Montreal! No one had even heard about BSB until we went insane over them. This is their 2nd home after Orlando, they can’t forget about us!

  • Katherine Ayala

    Yay!
I sooooo can not wait to see them together!!!!

  • Maria

I saw this moment from the 3rd row at Radio City. Pure awesomeness. This tour? For the boyband geek that I am (yes, judge me) this is nirvana :D

    • duranmom

      I don’t judge you. I <3 boybands!

  • duranmom

If you just added NSYNC to those letters I could truly get behind this tour. Darn that Justin for being so successful…

  • Heidi

I gagged and I knew it was coming.

    • Rachel

if you don’t like it then don’t post a comment!

  • Gabriela

I don t like the idea at all,,,huge Backstreet boys fan and after seeing the backstreet boys still doing worldtours will be like an step back for their career! bsb image will go a little bit down. sorry, but nkotb are only popular in northamerica. Most of the real backstreet boys fans outside USA are not happy w/the news. We are afraid of their careers!

    • Chris

Perhaps you should read your history….New Kids on the Block were insanely popular in their heyday…big in Europe but enormous in East Asia. Their music wasn’t as good as Backstreet Boys but they had a much cooler image and swagger.

    • Em

That’s not completely accurate – NKOTB sold out the London’s O Arena (23,000) in Winter 2009. And to be honest, when was the last time BSB had a hit song? I don’t see how this will bring down their image. If anything, NKOTB fans that were in college when BSB were at the height of popularity and maybe didn’t listen to them might become new fans and vice versa. It might be a win/win for both groups.

    • Preston

I don’t think it will be a step back. This will definitely be a step forward for both pop groups. They still sell out shows to this day because of their loyal fans and I’m sure this summer 2011 tour will do just the same. New Kids on the Block had a successful tour in 2008-2009 for their 2008 album The Block.

    • Rachel

      How can you say that!!!!

I TOTALLY DISAGREE with you. It will only reignite interest in both groups. I for one think that it’s a GREAT idea!

      Can’t wait!

  • dee123

The people around me right now are excited, i’m kind of scared.

  • How do people . . .

    Distinguish between the two.

    • Traci

New Kids have slightly less hair then BSB.

      • How do people . . .

        Tuche

      • Emili

Ironically BSB has slighty less muscles than New Kids.
