Mandi great review! I saw the Gator chomp during Blakes performance and thought the same thing. Taylor Swift I thought sounded better than normal, but the girl cannot sing live. I think Miranda Lambert and Blake are cute together. Have to agree too many shots of the Hollywood wives.

    • bkwurm1

The guy in the background doing funny arm moves was my favorite part of the song. Love the live experience.

  • Thad

Aldean and Clarkson was the highlight of my night. Performance was great and Kelly was amazing! I want it.

  • pklongbeach

Carrie and Brad are great togeather. And the openner was the best of the night. Swift should stick to pop shows cause she continually reminds us of her conversion. Platrow gets too much credit for doing what you’re supposed to do at a singing show. Sing.

  • Christa

I grew up on country music. The only people on this show (and the only reason I watched) that I actually like are Blake Shelton & Miranda Lambert. Most new “country” is just pop music with a teeny bit of twang and I’d rather listen to Hank & Waylon.

    • Kathi

      I agree!

    • Wendy

      Agree.

    • Anon

As times changes so does the music it may never be the same as the past but it still country well at least to me.

  • Jennifer

I loved Reba’s performance. I also loved the Zac Brown Band w/ Alan Jackson. I normally love George Strait and Miranda Lambert but I could hardly hear George and didn’t really care for Miranda’s new song. Kenny was okay. I’m really tired of seeing Carrie and Taylor everywhere. They are a LITTLE overexposed but that is just my humble opinion.

    • sassy

I totally agree with you. I think both Carrie and Taylor are overrated and overexposed. I am sick of seeing both of them. Maybe there are too many country music award shows. Seems like they are on every other night.

  • Molly

I only tuned in to watch Swift and was blown away by her performance. Singing Back to December was reaching out to Taylor Lautner. And the snow effects were awesome. I can’t wait to favorite it on You Tube.

Kelly and Jason we’re the best last night and who cares about the sleeves Mandi, good Lord. I don’t know how something like an outfit can distract you from Kelly’s killer voice. When you hear her sing her vocals is the only thing you pay attention to, that’s why Kelly doesn’t need some big stage production when she’s on tour. :)

Carrie & Brad did a great job hosting last night. I got a kick out of Brad pretending that Lady A was Lady Gaga, and him starting to sing ‘Papparazzi’, & “Alejandro” lol.

  • joan

George was great, but have never seen him choke up like that during a song. Loved Taylor swifts performance. Carrie’s dresses were HORRIBLE!! who picked that stuff, especially the one that looked like drapes. I didn’t like Reba’s performance but my kids said it was decent compared to the original.
Many of the performances sounded pitchy to me so I think it was the acoustics and not the performers.

    • R

I think he was sick, get well soon! At least that shows he doesnt have to lip sync to sound just as good as the cd. Those two things just goes to show you how much he cares for his fans!
Singing while sick and no lip syncing.
Love ya George, cant wait to see you Jan 14! :)

      • luvgeorge

I think George must have been sick. Plus the sound was horrific during his song and Kenny’s. Sound crew should go – they ruined it.

  • june

especially liked Brads ode to infidelity and then within minutes out walked Leann Rimes

    • ALM

Agreed–I kept waiting for them to mention her in the ditty, but they stuck to the naughty boys.

  • Kathi

I’m a huge fan of Miranda and it’s about time the industry took notice, loved the hosting of the award show. Kelly performed wonderful, as usual. Miranda always has fire in her performances. George Strait is also is a classic performer. I’m not a huge fan of Taylor Swift but I thought she had great lyrics to her song. Sugarland disappointed me. I loved Brad Paisleys tribute song. And I have to agree, we may just see a baby in 9 months from Miranda and Blakde :-) All and all it was a great show.

    • Teresa

I totally agree on your Miranda message, I am so glad she is finally getting the recognition she deserves, she has been deserving it for a long time and it way past time she is noticed for it. I am a HUGE Miranda fan, she is my favorite current female country singer!! Kelly was wonderful too, she is another one of my favorite singers!!

  • Madonna Dougherty

I think the best entrance was Sugarland, walking thru a curtain the best?paaa-lees. And Taylor has more talent in just one of those fingers on the keyboard than any of those commenting, or of those in the business. So she doesn’t have Kelly’s voice? Well who does? I loved both ladies’ performances. The worst performance of the night? the sound crew, many of the acts came off flat and some lyrics even got lost, over and over again. Oh and Gwyneth, kinda ballsy to go out in front of icons and sing country and she pulled it off. Good for her. Standing ovation tho? they need to hold them back for the big ones so they mean something.

    • R

I think it could have been that everyone was saying yah we accept you. Good job… :) But other than that yah I agree with you.

  • KS

Kelly Clarkson is amazing! I do wish she would dress a little better though, but I guess with a voice like that- who cares? I downloaded the song from itunes already!

  • James

Carrie & Brad are the perfect cohosts for the CMAs. They need to stay for as long as the two of them wish to do it.

What sucks is that Carrie needs to get her due. Carrie not even being nominated for Entertainer of the Year is a joke. Brad is RICHLY deserving and has been for a while but to deny that award to Carrie this of all years is ridiculous.
Blake winning was a surprise and a great one. I was so happy for both him and Miranda. Tim and Faith who? lol

    • GS

I agree about Carrie. I just saw her a couple of weeks ago and she was AMAZING! Put on a great show and that girl can flat out sing! I’m glad Brad won out of the nominees but Carrie should have been nominated before Miranda, Zac Brown, and Lady A. They aren’t headliners yet!

      • sassy

Carrie is overrated. I am glad to see that they finally recognize that. Her latest album is her worst. She is getting boring and predictable. Blah.

    • John M.

I agree that Underwood should have been nominated for Entertainer, but make her wait for a little while for since she didn’t pay her dues in Nashville like others did and she auditioned for a LOS ANGELES, CA-based singing contest.

      • kathy60

Why does Carrie have to “pay her dues” to get EOTY when young Taylor, who hasn’t even cut her teeth yet; win EOTY in 2009???

      • kcfan

Taylor deserved ETOY last year Taylor hater.

  • john

there was not a true country performance among the nominees or winners. they brought out lorretta lynn in an attempt to legitimate the entire show/the current state of ‘country’ music. this is not country. they should not even be call this country. they should call it something else. POPtry or something. ‘country’ music is now just a dumping grounds from acts who can not make it on the pop/rock charts/field. cma = country music assassins.

    • Wendy

Mmmm hmmm agree with what you say – “Country music” has become a dumping ground.

      • john

this crap is not about the music at all. it has nothing to do with the rich history or traditions of country music. it is about product. they are making ‘country’ music for a demographic that does not even like REAL country music. this crap is plastic. it is disposable.

      • Callie

Agree. This “music,” for the most part, isn’t country, but it’s being called “country,” and then when fans and followers of true country fans protest, someone comes up with some condescending response like “Country accepts everybody,” or some such nonsense. You’re right, these country posers don’t even like country music.

      • john

it looks like kelly and the radiohead or is it coldplay wife are gettin’ in on the dumpin’.

    • john

the phrase ‘country music’ has been hijacked !

    • Get off Your Country High Horse

Hey whiners: most of us “posers” tune into this crap, on the the rare chance it might actually be entertaining. And guess what.. it was! I used to hate country music until some of the newer groups ie: Zac Brown Band, Lady A, etc, opened my ears. Now I can honestly say I enjoy it. Everyone is entitled to their own musical journey!!

      • john

this ain’t country. every act you listed was music processed for people who don’t like country music.

  • graeme

    whoa, amy grant looks GOOD!

    • Sharon

My husbands comments was that she is really a very beautiful woman. She has a very handsome husband also.
