If anyone causes the show in Brazil to be a New Orleans funeral, it’ll be the smashing pumpkins. I would pay to see pavement play anywhere in the world. I don’t think I would go to a smashing pumpkins concert even if it were free. I think I like maybe TWO of their songs. Pavement has a whole catalog that I love.
The feud is stupid to bring back up, but Billy was always attacked by alternative types when he felt really connected to it. If Billy sounds stupid and whiny while singing, he’s better at it than Stephen is. God, I could also use a song by Pavement that isn’t self-important “anti-music industry” stuff, and “hooks” that don’t fall flatter than warm coke.
Thanks for the catchpenny artical. I think you managed to pull all 12 of pavements fans out of hiding; I honestly didn’t know any existed. Should billy get over it? Probably, but I’m sure it feels less like ancient history when you actually lived through it. For the record sometimes the reason a particular band isnt popular is not due to being too good or to complex but because they suck. Sorry kiddies but pavement falls under the latter.
No, Billy, YOU were the death of the alternative dream with your second rate My Bloody Valentine. Just as STP’s second rate Nirvana. Pavement just realizes you guys as that!
