Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett blasted a lot more than some great riffs last week during a show in Sydney, Australia. Rolling Stone reports that he also knocked a little girl off stage after accidentally kicking a balloon at her. A number of black balloons—which more resembled the oversized inflated workout balls found in gyms—decorated the stage and for fun fan interaction the band threw and kicked some out the the audience.
But in Hammett’s case, the ball didn’t get to float up and out into the crowd. The girl was at the edge of the stage (by the way, who let their toddler on a Metallica stage?) and felt the impact instantly as it left his foot and flew back until she flew off the stage. Oddly enough, the incident happened while they were playing “Seak And Destroy.” She’s reportedly fine and not injured.

Is it wrong that I cant stop laughing? Too damn funny
lol…agree. and now the parents are probably gonna sue em…
I also can’t stop laughing. Glad to know I’m not the only one.
I can’t stop laughing either
I heard on the radio that this was the daughter of one of their manager’s – ha ha – she has probably been kicked in the face before – too funny
i agree!! funniest thing i’ve seen all day!
Lets focus on the positive.. This is such an awesome way to introduce a child to metal… Welcome to the world kid.. Yes, it sucks
yeah…my parents took me to an ac/dc concert when i was about 10…so awesome.
Nevermind the parents…. but what kind of security detail would allow a child to get that close?
as funny as that was, the kid should never have been on stage in the first place.
Yes, you are right, it’s the kid’s fault. She should have known better. LOL
Concert accidents? Well, there was the festival seating snafu at that Who show, and some security mix up when I saw the Stones at Altamont…but they didn’t turn out quite as funny as this one.
Proof that some people should not procreate
Well, this is weird.
Kicking a child off the stage qualifies as metal.
You know what isn’t metal, though? Kicking frickin’ balloons around as part of your stage act. Is Lars sprinkling glitter on his drumheads these days too?
Apparently, the girl was the daughter of Napster creator Shawn Fanning, who is currently salivating at the prospect of being able to be the one to sue Metallica this time around.
Reports are now saying she was the kid of the tour manager, hence why the kid was able to get that close to begin with….not exactly a security problem in that case.
Can’t stand the mosh, stay outta the pit. She went flyin!
You may have been reading some reports and watching some YouTube video of Kirk accidentally kicking a balloon and knocking a child down. I want to set the record straight here. The child is the daughter of a Metallica crew member, and she was experiencing the joy of the balloons dropping. She was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and Kirk did not see her when he kicked the ball. The little girl did not receive any injuries, and she was not “sent flying several feet into the audience.” Both the little girl and Kirk are fine, and are still friends. Thanks for everyone’s concern and support.
Kirk and a child ,friends?…Kirk ,kick me please!!
Ha!! Ha!! Ha!!.. I don’t no If that accually happened but if it did I think its funny.. By the way why would a little girl be at a metallica concert. And if so why was she on the stage.good job hammett. And I mean that
