So this is the top ten songs in the country??
      America is DONE FOR!!

      • JT

Anyone else notice that all of the songs directed towards gay youth made it to number one?
We R Who We R by Kesha, Raise Your Glass by Pink, and now Firework by Katy Perry
Sounds like a winning formula to me.

    • Rush

Yeah, too many mixed metaphors in the first verse. But it’s a common stylistic sin in pop music.

This list is rather pathetic. My generation’s music taste has officially gone off the deep end. All these songs are so dull, self-centered, unintelligent, and completely void of any genuine emotion.

  • Lady Gaga

that’s why America is the land of the morons!

    • dipshat

Yeah, morons that buy ‘your’ music.

Wow! What a bad bad BAD BAD list of songs. I look back on the (relative)past 40 years of R&B/Rock/Hip-Hop/Electronica/Alternative music and..WOW..popular music is in a deep hole, creatively. Just an opinion, but, a LOT of ammunition behind that opinion.

Is it possible to contact administration?
    Hope for no silence

Wow. “Firework” really is a terrible song.

“Good Songs” aren’t necessarily top songs. Just as good movies aren’t necessarily the ones that make the most money. These lists are basically compiled of downloads and airplay. So just like people like junk food and summer popcorn movies, they like music with little substance. i wish people would stop being such music snobs. if you don’t like it, don’t listen.

It’s not music snobbery when you consider that musical “junk food” like this is the only kind that gets made anymore because the record industry is run by people who only care about sales and know nothing about music.

Another award-winning piece of journalism from Brad Wete. Not a mention that “Firework” continues the revolving door of #1 singles for a sixth week. As much as some people detest the song (as evidenced by the comments above), I think it will break this pattern next week. P!nk will likely hold onto #2 (due to radio airplay), while Bruno Mars’ “Grenade” will squeak by Rihanna for the #3 spot.

  • Miss Talk

BillBoard Hot#1 doesn’t mean anything those days anyway.

kathy perry’s teenage dream isn’t great, sorry chart! billboard just isn’t what it used to be… :D

  • Dave

Top 40 music is in such a sorry state this past year or so. I can’t remember a time when this much of the top 40 was such awful music. This is pathetic.

  • dee123

    Katy Brand.

  • Tequila

  • El Ciccone

Have we all listened to the same song? I’ve been Katy resistant until her last two singles.
