Bruce Springsteen brings 'The Promise' to a tiny New Jersey theater: Watch here

Filed under: Music and tagged:

bruce-springsteenSixty Bruce Springsteen fans got a memorable holiday gift last week when they crowded into Asbury Park, N.J.’s teensy Carousel House for a very special E Street Band concert. Sore that you weren’t in the audience? Rejoice, for the Boss just released a high-quality half-hour film from that night on Vevo for all to see.

Songs from the Promise, which you can stream right here after the jump, makes me even more jealous of the lucky dogs who were there in person. Springsteen and Co. have a blast performing highlights from The Promise, the new 2-CD set of outtakes from 1978′s Darkness on the Edge of Town: the revved-up “Racing in the Street (’78),” the hopeful “Gotta Get that Feeling,” the rollicking “Ain’t Good Enough For You,” and the mournful “The Promise.” They top it off with a spin through “Blue Christmas,” the rock’n'roll carol popularized by Elvis Presley.

I’m left with just one question. When are these guys going to hit the road again for a proper tour? They were busy all year finishing up The Promise, but clearly they haven’t lost the performing bug. Here’s hoping 2011 brings some less exclusive E Street engagements. Watch Songs from the Promise after the jump and let us know if you agree.

They are the best. Their concerts are the best in rock and roll. We’ve all been in mourning since they stopped touring last year.
