    spell check!

    • Leticia

Uh oh we have the grammar police on patrol.

  • UGH

Wow. What a tone-deaf country we live in.

    • yournightmare

Great! It is a beautiful piece of work by ms Swift. Very deserving.

    • Maxi

I agree. Listening to rap music at BLASTOFF levels creates tinnitus and blows your eardrums to kingdom come.

    • Leticia

You’re tone deaf because you listen too much to acid rock. Get an eardrum transplant and then listen to good music for a change.

  • S.O.

2 weeks from now Cage the Elephant will have the #1 album.

    • Leticia

Who the heck is that group?

  • yournightmare

Is it her 16-th week atop overall? Did “Taylor Swift” album get to nr1?
    Anyway…very impressive numbers.

    • Jordan

I think the peak on Taylor’s eponymous album is either 3 or 5 on the Billboard 200 chart. It debuted in the Top 20 selling only 39,000 copies, but here we are 4 years plus a couple months later and it’s still on the Billboard 200 chart selling additional copies each week. I read it’s the longest stay for an album in the top tier for the past decade or more. Impressive!

    • Marianne Somers

It was no. 1 on the Country Albums chart like forever, but I don’t think it made it to no. 1 on the Billboard albums chart. It doesn’t matter though because her first album is still selling it in the top half of the 200 and it’s the longest running album in the past 14 years. It’s 219 weeks old and still selling! Wowie!

  • Mason

Even with the advantage of a price cut to 7.99 at both I-tunes and Amazon, Eminem’s and Kanye’s albums couldn’t supersede Taylor’s gargantuan Speak Now. She’ll be comfortably at #1 for a few more weeks during January’s album malaise.

    • Addie Espinoza

I’ve always wanted to use that word “gargantuan” …. per Elle Driver.

Gargantual Taylor Swift kills both Eminem and Kanye in cd sales.

    • Leticia

No one can surpass Tay Tay’s album because everyone else that releases new material is essentially unloading crap onto an unknowing market and that is why everyone else sells less than the princess of country. That’s JMHO though, so don’t hold it against me. That’s reminds me. Britney’s song is debuting this Tuesday and it may be another mega-hit. Sweet.

    • me

I am pretty sure that Eminem’s album came out months before Swift’s, so it is actually amazingly impressive that it is in second place.

  • Jillian

Whoa! CD sales took a huge plunge this week. What happened?

    • ashlee

The sales are always like this the week after Christmas. Most albums drop by at least 50%..

      • Andy

Taylor’s still selling really good after 2 months of release. Speak Now is awesome.

    • Leticia

Easy. No one buys cds or anything for that matter after the new year because everyone is as broke as a street beggar holding new year’s cardboads on the street needing food change.

  • Samsara

Nicki has sold better than Kanye since their respective releases the same week and she’s probably passed him in sales. Good for her.

    • Leticia

Dirtbags always sell less than anyone else. Nicki is head and shoulders above the wordmonger.

    • Kevin

Ye has fallen all the way down to #21 on HITS chart with 40% reporting so far. I guess that price cut did help him a lot during the end and first of the year.

  • Oreo

wow still selling them albums tay!!! impressive! well not really surprised cause her work is really impressive to begin with. sell more albums Tay! and see you on tour this summer can’t wait!

  • Charmaine

People’s Choice Winner for Fave Country Female Artist further confirming why she’s ruling the charts.

    • Leticia

Didn’t she beat Lady Antebelly, Keith SubUrban, Rascall’s Flatt, and Carrie Boringwood for the title?

      • Killian

Don’t you mean Carrie UnderSwift? Sounds more appropriate since she’s in Taylor’s shadow the past couple of years.

  • Minks

Slow sales for sure, but Taylor selling it even in this horrible times of cd sales.

  • Angie

Taylor ended 2010 as the best selling artist of the year again and nothing will change this year as she will again end 2011 as the best selling artist. Quality triumphs over quickly produced product.

    • Melissa

That’s not news. She’s been dominating the albums sector since Fearless came out. I think she’s the only artist that has all of their albums in their career on the Billboard 200 Albums chart at the same time. Quite a feat.

      • Derek

Katy Perry is selling her singles like crazy, yet she’s having a tough time selling her album Teenage Dream. She hasn’t even sold a million yet while her California Gurls single was the best selling download for last year selling 4.40 million copies. Baffling difference between album sales and singles and obviously Taylor knows how to sell her albums.

  • Tony

Glad K West, and N Minaj made a huge surge this week, they deserve it

    • Corrine

Nicki yes. Kanye not so much.

    • Rick

Kanye had a surge because his cd was reduced to bargain basement prices at I-tunes and Amazon. Now that they got rid of the excess for year end, it’s back up to the regular price so he’s gonna find it hard moving the same amount of copies this week. Yep.

    • Leticia

They’ll have to reduce to 99 cents level for them to get rid of the excess that was shipped during the first week. He still hasn’t sold that first week shipped amount yet.

  • Amanda

CD sales have really slumped big time this year. I think we may have the lowest sales on record in the weeks following. Yikes!

    • Leticia

No one has any $$$ to buys cds or anything else for that matter after the new year.

  • Marc

Taylor is set to extend her 5 nonconsecutive weeks @ #1 to 6 according to HITs weakend report :

** No debuts this week (1/6p)

    • Ashlynn

Those are really weak sales for this weekend. Unless new debuts come out this month, Taylor will have a lock on that tp spot.

      • Leticia

No kidding. Even Tay Tay is having a hard time moving those BIG numbers after the new years. Everybody’s fresh outta moola.

    • Laurelei

Those figures indicate the music industry is in dire straits. Pathethic numbers, even for the number one selling Speak Now. Only 55 to 60k? I recall Fearless selling over 100k 2 years ago this week didn’t it? Chartologist run rampant searching the spec.

      • Ahhhh

        @laurelei,

speak now sold 3million + albums in 2 months and it’s still selling that’s really impressive.
sales are usually down in January bec of the holidays

      • Dan

Has Taylor sold over 3 million already? In such a short time? Whoa.

      • @Dan

yes she sold 4.5 million plus albums and still counting on 2010 for speak now. that sales includes the physical and digital sales of the album.

        very impressive indeed

      • Leticia

Tay Tay will find it hard moving the same number sold as Fearless because just don’t many cds these days. Year over year the sales fall by BIG percentages. Even the faithful country album buyers are dropping in droves. Artists make their money during tours nowadays.

    • Camille

The ladies rule next week with Taylor and Nicki. Yay!

      • Leticia

The numbers a very low though.

    • Roger

I can’t believe Daffy Punk is going to do better than albums by Rihanna, Eminem, Bruno Mars, and Kanye next week. The US market for music is totally strange.

    • Jolie Smitherton

Until a “good” new album comes out, Taylor will roost on that top perch for a cool back to December stay.

    • Thalia

I think Taylor will match Fearless’ run for weeks on top. Speak Now is an excellent album and if it had debuted a month earlier, it would’ve been the best selling album of the year instead of Eminem’s cd.

    • Nancy

Taylor’s been the top album artist for the past couple of years now. She sells her albums almost as well as her singles.

    • Brianne

It’s amazing how many copies she has already sold in a short time since Speak Now’s release. She will be way past Eminem’s amount by the time her cd is 28 weeks old.

    • Killian

It’s apparent no one sells in high volume anymore. Sad really.

    • Marc

      Taylor’s rise -

Total after 11 weeks = 3,021,000+ sold. Still selling like no other album these past couple years. Taylor rocks!

    • Lina LaMont

That’s a record low ‘weekly’ total even if she stays at number 1. I don’t think another album has sold that little and still remain as the number 1 album. Sad times for record sales and gone are the days of yesteryear when millions are bought each week.

  • Laurelei

I’m a Taylor fan so I’m not trying to diminish her efforts at all. I’m just saying that cd sales are kinda sucky because even Taylor can’t sell over 100k in this horrible buying environment.
