I’m excited to hear Britney’s new song, simply because I love pop music. But my generation (I’m 18) hails Lady Gaga as our queen of pop. She’s a beautiful, outrageous, provocative artist and she was born that way. Has Britney influenced us in any way other than the fact that we can be total sluts when we turn eighteen? No. Gaga has made it okay to be who you are and not be ashamed. She’s one of the main reasons that DADT was repealed, which will lead to many more gay rights. I’m not here to bash Britney, but you have to admit that there is no such thing as Brit vs Gaga. February 13, baby! Little monster’s independence day.

Hell yea she was. Who else helped Senator Harry Reid create such a stir in the young generation that got the attention DADT deserved? She didn’t repeal it herself obviously, but she encouraged thousands (if not millions?) to speak out against it. And that’s why gays are now allowed to openly serve their country.

I find it really upsetting that more people are hearing Bonnie McKee via a Britney Spears demo (and a terrible Katy Perry song) than through her incredible album Trouble from a few years ago. She should be the superstar.

After Kanye’s new album it’ll be very interesting to hear what this single brings to the table. MDTF is, in my opinion, a brilliant album in all aspects and Jay-Z all ways produces brilliant records.
Britney Spears has made a couple of pretty good songs, but the only reason there is hype about this new song is because she is written about so much in gossip columns. She isn’t better than other female singers mentioned in the comments and although barely comparable due to the difference of genre, she is not better than kanye or jay-z either
