On his birthday last Sunday the singer, 33, tweeted “It’s gonna be a great year! I love u all and wish me luck! I start my sober journey tomm!” And the following day he wrote, “This is gonna be an amazing year for me and all around me! I love u all and appreciate all the love and support. See u on the other side!”

“For personal reasons, I’ve checked myself into a rehab clinic,” McLean said this afternoon in a statement from his publicist. “With 2011 being a busy year for Backstreet, I want to be healthy and perform & sing for people at my very best and happiest. None of this will affect our current tour plans and I look forward to seeing everyone really soon! Thank you for all of your support and respecting my family and friends privacy during this time.”
This is not McLean’s first stint at rehab, but he seems bent on making it his last. Are you looking forward to seeing him, his Backstreet Boys, and New Kids on the Block on tour this summer?

No one is perfect an u Nick r so far from it, maybe Alex wouldnt feel the need 2 check in2 rehab if he had close friends that he could rely on maybe he would be happy enough with the support that his so called band family gave him that he wouldnt need the support of strangers, my heart goes out 2 Alex and the rest of the band even u nick cos every1 has ups and downs and 1 day u will need support 2 nick, so drop the judgemental attitude
Not surprising cause when he was on Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Years Eve I even looked at my friend at midnight and went WoW, kinda sad when Ke$ha looks more put together than A.J., whom my friend didnt even recognize since he looked bloated in the face, super pale, and just not sober.
I always thought AJ had the best voice in the group (my personal opinion). His optimism is admirable. Hope he succeeds.

While on the BSB cruise in December, we all had a damn good time and yes, lots of alcohol was consumed during the 4 night trip. AJ didn’t seem that out of control to me (he was being usual AJ). If anyone was hitting the bottle too hard, I would say it was Nick. He looked like a hot mess the final night during the Black & Blue party. Maybe he should be checking in with AJ.
I can’t wait to see AJ & the rest of the Backstreet Boys this summer. I have been a fan of BSB for 15 years and I love and support each member 100%. Proud of you AJ can’t wait to see u soon : )

If you honestly believe that Nick Carter actually wrote that comment you are nuts. That is someone pretending to be him. Whoever that person is, they are absolutely ridiculous and need to get a life.
