Lil Wayne and Wiz Khalifa square off in 'Black and Yellow' NFL Super Bowl remix: Which 'Yellow' is better?

Filed under: Music and tagged: , , ,

Black-and-YellowThe football field isn’t the only place the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers are squaring off. Along with the upcoming Super Bowl comes a remix of “Black and Yellow,” Wiz Khalifa’s ‘Burgh-loving anthem, from rap titan Lil Wayne. His “Green and Yellow,” named after the Wisconsin team’s uniform colors, basically declares Green Bay will be raising the Lombardi trophy come Sunday. “Terrible towels?/ That s—’s boring/ We got the ball/ You know we’re scoring” Wayne raps over the Stargate production.

Wayne stresses several times during the track that “this ain’t a diss song.” He doesn’t have any beef with Khalifa. He’s just a Packers fan. But in the spirit of competition, we must ask whose “Yellow” shines brighter? On one bench we have Khalifa and his hometown jam. On the other is Weezy and approximately three and a half minutes of potent fandom, going as far as threatening to chop Troy Polamalu’s long hair off. And in the bleachers is a truckload of others who’ve put their spin on Khalifa’s chart-topping hit–including Tom Hank’s Northwestern-repping son Chet and this sweet little girl.

Um, no doubt Wiz’s version is better. I would think that even if I weren’t a die-hard Steelers fan; Lil Wayne’s voice is super annoying and Wiz is just better overall. GO STEELERS!

    • danny

Yeah, I like Wiz better most of the time. But Wayne nails it for overall fun and carelessness. ‘Now we ’bout to cut Troy Polamalu hair off’ lmao.

This is very timely in time for the upcoming Super Bowl. Lil’ Wayne wants the Green Bay Packers to win. I think he heard Wiz Khalifa’s Steelers supportive Black and Yellow and immediately wrote some lyrics for his Green and Yellow song. Probably got some different music behind it different from the StarGate helmed song for Wiz. I last remember this with the Bears/New England rival songs in late 1985 for their January 1986 Super Bowl. And the Bears Run-DMC-sounding Super Bowl Shuffle.

Honestly I think wiz’s (wizs’?) is better but that doesn’t matter because the Packers are the better football team! Go Pack GO!!!!!!!

I heard Lil’Wayne’s song. It was good, and he mentions Vince Lombardi several times in the song so he knows his football. The part about cutting Troy’s long hair off is so funny! His humor is on point on this song. He mentions the Packers’ players like Clay Matthews on the song. But I have to give Wiz the upper hand–his record can’t be touched with his homage to the Steelers and his hometown of Pittsburgh. But a good post-jail period song for Wayne while we wait for his next album!

The Wayne track is good, but listen to the Prophetic and Pizzle version too!

    • Amanda

  • Sarah

Oh my goodness that little girl is so adorable! Whiz better watch out!

  • Lindsay

Wow this little girl is the cutest thing I have ever seen!!! Black and yellow black and yellow.

  • Zurctra

Lil wayne can’t be touched. Whenever he puts a track out, it’s hard enough as it is, let alone referring to these two big teams. And as far as these remixes Wayne always has the best. Even the Kobe song is better than Snoops “Purp and Yellow”

I know this is all done in competitive spirit for fun n its not really that big of a deal BUT:
Wiz’s version is ABOUT BEING PROUD TO BE FROM PITTSBURGH and everything it means to be part of the Steeler Nation. Weezy’s is all anti-Steeler, n u can say what u want about Ike Taylor n ig Ben even tho he delivers like none other when it matters but….seriously Weezy step off Polamalu that just makes you look bad. Honestly, dont talk about the Terrible Towel either, unless you want the ghost of Myron Cope to come back and haunt you with double yoys. So…I’m not offended by it cuz the Rooneys set an example to the whole nation to be classy…but GO STEELERS! ON 2 6 11 WE BRING HOME 7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ANGIE k

and one more thing….this gives props to wiz its awesome to have weezy remake his song so im happy about how big this song has gotten first snoop now weezy :)
