Sadly, Prince fans weren’t able to party like it’s 1999 this weekend: A pre-Super Bowl concert headlined by the musician was canceled just hours before ticket-buyers were set to pack the theater. According to the Associated Press, the concert — which was to be held Friday at TheEvent to benefit arts group The Goss-Michael Foundation — was halted for unknown reasons. First, The Goss-Michael foundation blamed the organizer for its cancellation in a statement early Friday (“It is our understanding that River Alexander Group, the event organizer, was unable to fund and produce the evening,” it said in a statement), then retracted their comments, insisting that Price had arrived in Dallas and that the show would go on. Prince, however, reportedly did not receive transportation to the event from the show’s organizers, and he was unable to get to the venue. Tickets cost upwards of $1,500; though ticket-holders will be reimbursed, Chris Arnold, the emcee and organizer of the event, told the AP: “I just want to let everybody know that I am truly sorry.”

Well that’s sucks but Prince is still the man!
Prince couldn’t find a way to get to the venue? The guy has millions. I’m sure he could have found a way to get there. Maybe people will think twice before paying for a ticket to see him. No one is worth paying $1,500 to see them perform. Well, maybe M. Pokora.
You believe that’s the reason the show didn’t go on? I got a great deal on a bridge if you’re interested.
Yeah right. You mean he couldn’t find a taxi? LOLOLOL.
Who the hell would spend $1500 for a ticket to any concert? What a waste.
Waste to you, sure. You don’t have that much money. I’m sure you make incredible wastes relative to people living in India every day too. You ever leave a faucet running for a moment while you’re brushing your teeth or washing your face? Ever throw away crusts from a pizza?
If you make 6-7 figures a year, $1,500 to get prime seats for a charitable event is no big deal.
You really needed that explained to you, huh?
Matt, people in India chose to not practice birth control, so any hunger situation going on there is of their own chosing. Anyone can disagree with me if they want to, but seriously, overpopulation helps to create famines.
I wish Prince would do a concert in Chicago!
Well if you do go to his concert in Chicago just make sure he has a way to get to the venue.
nice one
I offered him a ride, but he responded “Baby, you’re much too fast…yes you are.”
thumbs up
LOL!
He couldn’t find a lady cab driver… lol less known song reference
As long as he has a ride to his concert in MSG in NY this Monday so that I can see him again I’m good…
“Unable to fund and produce the concert”
Translation: They didn’t/couldn’t pay or provide the fees and riders demanded by the artist. Easy to blame this on Prince, but the organizer needs to not make promises they can’t keep.
It is possible Prince cancelled due to his health concerns, since apparently he needs a hip transplant but it’s against his religion, but if he flew to Dallas, I doubt he’d not be able to go on hours later.
Sure, they had to cancel the concert because he couldn’t get transportation to the event venue from his local hotel. Hope some legit media picks up the story and reveals all including the Goss-Michael Foundation. At least the scalpers made money.
If the concert had gone on as planned, I’m sure Justin Bieber would’ve made an obligatory appearance. That said, seeing that little Prince dude stomp the tossled Muppet with one of his high heels would’ve been worth the price of admission…
I don’t care HOW much money I have or who is in concert, paying $1500 to see ANYBODY is just plain stupid. Maybe the second coming of Jesus, or the first public-known space alien . . . but then I’d like to talk and shake hands or something. $1500 to see Prince – what does he have – solid gold . . . well nevermind.
i don’t think it sold well. you can’t tell people in Texas that you get to see Prince in a tent in Frebuary, oh and it’s 1500 a seat.
lol – good point
So red necks dont have10 babies or inter marry then live on the govt.Dole?there are more white people on public assistance then others.Prince is great all the racial misinformation is really ignorant,no one wants poverty even the people in india.
