Britney Spears announces 'Hold It Against Me' video premiere and album release date

Apparently there’s a new game plan for how to premiere a big video: Air it along with a new episode of Jersey Shore. After Kanye West scored with his “Power” clip last summer using the strategy, Britney Spears plans to do the exact same thing come Feb. 17. Her Jonas Akerlund-directed “Hold It Against Me” video will premiere on MTV before a new episode of their most popular show at 9:56pm EST and simultaneously on Vevo online.

Find out when her album comes out after the jump.

The visual is for Spears’ seventh album, Femme Fatale, which hits stores March 29th. While you wait for the full video, you can catch teasers of it on her site up until its premiere. Will you be tuning in? Let us know.

I have never seen an episode of Jersey Shore, but you’re damn skippy I’ll be watching…although I’ll probably tune in about 9:52. ;)

It averages well above 8.5 million views a week. If they promote it this week that it will premiere next week, that’s incredible marketing. Similar to when she attached the premiere of womanizer to 60 minutes. And because it Britney, it will probably lead to a record rating for jersey shore that week. Brilliant marketing, spreads awareness. Let’s go brit

I’m a BIG Britney fan but let’s be honest… her song HIAM is just awful. there is a whole part that is almost silent…?…I’m hoping the video makes the song for me.

    • Sarah

I agree, I am not impressed with HIAM.

    • Mike

That ‘silent’ part is called a dance-break..

      • justin

Yeah the “silent” part you are referring to, I assume, is the dance break. It’s dubstep influenced and is amazing.

    • B

The “silent” part to which you refer is the best part of the song. In fact, it’s the only part of the song I really like.

      • occ

but she doesn’t sing… in that case do you care either way if it’s a Britney Song or not?

      • sam

In that case, lets give a round of a plause to the producers!. who give us the “silence” in britney music we all enjoy.=)

  • justin

The video is looking flawless so far. The teasers have been amazing, especially the last two. I cant wait to see it!

  • mark

I love the song, can’t wait until I’m buzzed at the club to hear it

I thought her album was dropping March 15? Regardless, I’m really excited, since Britney almost never disappoints with a good music video.

    How appropriate.

I think because Shore gets those big 8 to 8.5 million viewer numbers, big name artists want to debut their new videos before it. I think it’s a good idea that Britney is debuting her video before a very popular show. Even though I don’t like Shore and Vinny is the lone character that stands out to me on there.

I wished that Britney debuted her album on March 15th to end these endless slow sales weeks of 30,000 to 50,000 of the albums currently in the top 10. I haven’t seen any 100,000 weeks or more yet in the past month. But maybe she wants to put it out against no other music competition, have a strong first week by herself.

I couldn’t care less about Jersey Shore, but I am excited about the video!! It looks so dope in the clips I’ve seen. I hope there’s a lot of dancing! Still think it premiering during or after the superbowl would’ve been supreme…

  • kat

jersey shore does not deserve the opportunity to follow the flawlessness that will no doubt be Queen Britney’s new video.

You may think that but its safe to say Britneys management is THRILLED she got a slot like that, Jersey Shore brings in killer ratings every week.

Why are they “premiering” a video for a song that has already peaked and is sliding down the charts? The song has already shot its wad. A video after the fact is illogical and superfluous.

  • sam

No. but i will most likely see it skimming through channels as i look for something better to watch.
In the past few years i have to agree that some of her music is catchy, but i have no idea how someone who can’t sing at all and clearly uses autotune for her songs, is still producing records. Sadly, music isn’t about talent anymore, its about who has the money, and the body to show as much boobs and bush as you can. Her music hasn’t matured one bit.

I’ve been browsing on-line greater than 3 hours lately, yet I by no means discovered any interesting article like yours. It is lovely price sufficient for me. In my view, if all site owners and bloggers made excellent content material as you did, the net will likely be much more helpful than ever before.
