Radiohead's new album coming out this weekend

radiohead-king-of-limbsNobody thought Radiohead would follow a conventional release model for the followup to their brilliant In Rainbows, but…this was unexpected, to say the least. This morning the band announced that their eighth album, The King Of Limbs, will be available for download on their site Feb. 19. That’s this Saturday! Between then and March 28, when the record will be sold in CD and 12″ vinyl form at regular outlets, fans can buy the album as is or a deluxe edition including two clear 10″ vinyl records.

Limbs was produced by frequent collaborator Nigel Godrich. Are you as surprised as we are? Will you be downloading it this Saturday? Let us know.

What amazing news to wake up to

    • jason.

      I’m there. Done.

      • Candice

I’d rather have a new Radiohead album than a few measly flowers!
Thank u for being my Valentines Thom, Jonny, Ed, Phil & Colin.

      • Ted

I love how everyone was hyped on the Arcade Fire Grammy win and then Radiohead just swoopes in and steals their thunder announcing a new record. haha. Not that I mind.

  • JennaLovesRadiohead

Screw Valentine’s Day!!! HAPPY RADIOHEAD DAY!

    • Amy

      Happy Radiohead day indeed!!!

  • Rick

OMG, the artwork is kinda creepy/awesome! Can’t wait. Already pre-ordered it. Best Valentine’s present ever:)

  • Larry David

Most overrated band ever (let me guess, somebody will try the comeback that I like J. Beiber or other bubble gum pop. So predictable)

    • kat

    • Poppy

Yeah they are overrated but they’re still f**** amazing. Better to be overrated than underrated I always say.

    • Jon

Radiohead are currently the world’s best band by default more than anything else. No-one other act currently performing has A) the quality of their back catalogue and B) continues to release exciting and accalimed records. With those two qualities who cares if they’re overrated?

      • jriz

I love radiohead, but its posts like this that make people annoyed at radiohead fans. Its ok to like a band without thinking they are the best in the world

      • matt

Radiohead is the best band in the world. Can anyone name another band that meets those two requirements above?

      • Celimene

Arcade Fire are the only heirs to Radiohead that I can think of. And while I love Arcade Fire, nothing makes me fangirl squee quite like news of a new Radiohead album.

    • Jay

I will have to agree with Larry David here.
Maybe in 1991 it was trendy to like this band… but I honestly dont know what we were thinking. I even tried giving them a chance because they were at Bonnaroo a few years ago, and I just think their era has come and gone.

      I was not impressed

      • Mike

At least get your dates right. It was ‘trendy’ to like them around 1997 when they released Ok Computer. Then a strange thing happened – they continued to release great music and became even more popular.

      • Rose

Keep on following what’s “trendy”. In that case, stick to your sh*** music.

      • Tim

People don’t like them because they’re “trendy.” People love them because they are AMAZING.

      • goatbrains

1991? Ha ha, their 1st album came out in ’93, dude.

    • Dave

They may be a bit overrated, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t good. Radiohead makes great music.

    • Chris

Larry David is a David Hasselhoff lover.

    • D0uchebag Larry

Actually, I think everyone should know that you like to dress up in drag and play Lady Gaga at max volume, but there’s nothing wrong with that. Nowadays, it’s perfectly acceptable to express yourself, Larry. By the way, I hear they’re having a huge sale on man-sized pantyhose going on at JC Penny.

      • kat

oh aren’t you just so funny…

    • Daver

Yeah this is just ignorant. If anything they don’t get enough credit for what they’ve done…and are apparently still doing. Hopefully you CAN take Bieber off repeat long enough to check out the new “trendy” Radiohead. Lol what a joke

  • JJ

THRILLED. and yes, will be buying it the second it becomes available!

  • ossie

I’m going to wait until the physical “normal” release on the 28th of March. Guess I’m old school.

    • Jared Wilbanks

You don’t have to wait. You can preorder the physical and get the MP3s this Saturday. You can be old school AND new school all at the same time :)

  • kat

this is awesome. i don’t think anyone was expecting it to be so soon. i’m so excited now.

  • Conner B.

I just peed my pants. And why this labeled under “metal.” lol

  • Alex

    What’s a newspaper album???

  • Dean

So excited to read this. Arcade Fire is creeping up, but they still claim the title best band in the world.

  • Chris

@Jay: So you only like bands who are trendy & cool?MORON.

  • audrey

my sister told me about this. i thought she was trying to rile me up. SO exited!

  • Lele

hey J, in 1991 Radiohead was called “On A Friday” you dumb! They released first album in 1992 and it wasn’t “trendy” to like them at the time, they were like the “ugly ducks” of British rock. They are called the best band in the world because they ARE the best band in the world, period. They are not overrated, anyone who cares to listen their album know that. And if you really was at Bonaroo in 2006 you wouldn’t be calling them bad because their show there was simply MINDBLOWING! So, all hail to The King Of Limbs, who might be another great album to us music lovers!

  • CJE

Already pre-ordered and I am very psyched

So pumped!! This is a great day…To people who try and compare them to bands like muse or arcade fire..those bands get their sound from RH. They were doing this type of music when those guys were still little boys. Have some respect! (though I do love those bands too!! )

    • Mya

Muse is influenced by Queen, not Radiohead. Common misperception because of John Leckie having produced their first album.

      • theo

Muse are influenced by Radiohead. Seriously look it up. Anyways, super excited for the new album!
