Kanye West abducts Katy Perry on singer's new single, 'E.T'

kanye-perryImage Credit: Gilbert Carrasquillo/FilmMagic.com; Glenn Harris/PR PhotosKanye West might be known for his artistic talent (and inflated sense of self). But today he is literally out of this world. And Katy Perry‘s wants him. This morning the remix to the pop songstress’ “E.T.” hit the internet. As soon as Kanye’s spaceship hovers into Katy’s life, she hopes to be the only one he abducts.

Kanye refuses at first, saying his is a life crazier than she can imagine. “Welcome to the danger zone,” he raps. “Step into the fantasy/ You are not invited to the the other side of sanit.y” Katy won’t take no for an answer, though:  “[I] Wanna be your victim/ [I’m] Ready for abduction,” she coos on the hook. And of course, Kanye gives in (who wouldn’t?), promising they’ll hit “a bar out in Mars.” Then he’ll “disrobe” and “probe” her. Intense stuff, right?

Like Ke$ha’s now-Andre 3000-assisted single, “Sleazy,” “E.T.” originated as a guest-free album track. But once it became a single, Perry enlisted the services of a top-notch rhymer. It’s a pretty savvy move on her part; the track benefits from a male’s perspective.

What do you think of “E.T.”? Happy Kanye jumped on it? Let us know.

let me get this straight. you dont listen to jay-z, beyonce, lupe fiasco, drake, justin bieber, kid cudi, T.I, keri hilson, nicki minaj, rick ross, the kings of leon, common, lil wayne, john legend, la roux, rihanna, bon iver, daft punk and countless others. I feel sorry for you. I hope you don’t like lady gaga because that is a collab wanting to happen. I hope you enjoy a Ipod filled only with taylor swift songs.

The original solo version is soooo much better! I get its the 4th single, she wants to keep the hype up and her #1 streak, but she didnt need him. The song was already hit as it was.

    • AK

I actually like it better now. The contrast between the two just ramps up the energy of the song.

OMG SOO HAPPY KATY GOT KANYE THIS IS EPIC!!

It was better with just Katy, though I may be biased, it’s my favorite song on the album. It woulda been a big hit without Kanye anyway so I don’t see the point in adding him. And they took out Katy’s bridge, which was like perfect the way it was.
(And ew.com, her last big hit single was Firework, not Teenage Dream, and this songs not that much like Teenage Dream anyway and it sounds nothing like it.)

I clearly remember after the VMA “scandal” Katy tweeting “F You Kanye! It’s like you stepped on a kitten or something!” So did they forgive or do they really hate each other’s guts and are just doing this to make more money? Lol

I think that Katy might have changed her tune when Kanye stayed low key after a few months to record his album. She might have heard his album, liked the songs, and decided to have him remix her song. A lot of artists have buried that incident under the ground.

Her parts are still great, now I just have to skip through half of it.

    • Hank

      I love Katy’s parts. They’ve always been my favorite. ; )

  • OneCharmingBastard

what happened to the Tinie Tempah-guest rap version that surfaced a while back?

  • danelle

    Sure, Kanyes an ass.
    But i LOVED the song.
So yeah, Im still gonna support katy.

  • Jonathan

This is the best song on te album, so I’m not sure how necessary Kanye is, but he is usually killer in guest spots so I’m sure he’ll deliver on this (I haven’t heard it yet).

  • lenscrafter

Anyone think ET sounds like the band Tatu?

  • Bo

I like the song. Gimme more Kanye. Watch the Throne in 2 weeks?

  • Brandon

Agreed Jay, as talented as Kanye is as an artist, his Douche-ness overrides it all. Still love Katy though! She can’t be talented and have good judgment too i guess.

    • the truth

but she’s not talented and she doesn’t have good judgment (marrying sex addict Russell Brand), so….

this is for the urban crossover on radio..check Rihanna..What’s My Name topped the radio play charts for months because urban radio played it. Katy wants those spins and sales (the remix is already doing well on itunes w/o a video). Plus the Gaga factor..Katy needed a media magnet with all the Gaga hype…Kanye is that dude…good move Katy…this may be the first Katy Perry video to be played on BET’s 106 and Park..

I think that Katy is going for an urban hip-hop sound with the remix with Kanye West. The original song on the album, which is more pop driven, sounds too much like Kesha’s, since the same producers did their songs for their albums. Especially the Kiss ME- Ki-Ki-Kiss-me sound effects on the chorus. Kanye might toughen up and make the beats harder for the remix. Katy did very well with Snoop Dogg as a guest artist on California Gurls and she might do well with it. But after that, I’d like the torchy ballad Not Like the Movies as the next single–that could give her another hit and prove that she’s a strong singer and not have to depend on bleepy sound effects or Autotune. And also give more respect to the song’s producer, Greg Wells, just as much as the Max Martin/Dr. Luke dominated songs on the album.
