Ke$ha's 'Animal (Switch Remix)' -- EXCLUSIVE

kesha-animalImage Credit: Ethan PinesWith two albums under her sequined thrift-shop belt, Ke$ha is releasing her first remix album next month, the less-than-succinctly titled I am the Dance Commander + I Command You to Dance: The Remix Album. It hits shelves (and more importantly, the digital highway) on March 22.

But why wait? You can listen to Switch’s remix of Ke$ha’s “Animal” exclusively here at EW:

Remixer Switch—mostly known for his genre-smashing work with MIA and Santigold—takes the formerly upbeat title track from Ke$ha’s debut and recasts it as an eerie, echoey lament. He even throws in some of the squealing electronic flourishes that characterized “Steppin’ Up,” one of his contributions to M.I.A.’s last album.

At the risk of contradicting the album’s title, this remix doesn’t exactly demand you hit the dancefloor, but it boasts the kind of mesmerizing, detailed production that just might make it an improvement on the original.

Animal is my favorite song on her album, tho i prefer the remix on Cannibal over this. I’m into Kesha these days. She’s grown on me.

I can’t explain it, but I like Ke$ha’s last album. Her music is catchy. And the fact that she doesn’t take herself seriously makes me not hate her like most people.

It was…different. Not bad but not sure if i like it. Definitely eerie

I like remix CDs so I will check this out…

Regardless of her antics/autotune/hygeine, I’m a fan. Really enjoy her music!

Don’t want to knock Kesha, but couldn’t she have released an album of all new songs instead of a full remix album? I think we all want to know what else she can sing about instead of partying all night and glitter. Or even branch out to mature pop ballads to show her voice more. It can’t just be dance, dance, dance, party all the time!

i mean she does have songs without auto tune and you’d know that if you’d listen through all the songs on her album… not just the ones you hear on the radio… like “the harold song” “dancing with tears in my eyes” & “blind” the last 2 i mentioned have a bit of auto tune but def. show more of her voice than the ones on the radio.. even better look up “animal” live on youtube… its really good

I guess people will buy anything these days

She’s one of my biggest guilty pleasures.

The original song is really good, so maybe the quality of your audio is bad, but this isn’t Switch’s best work at ALL. Very dub, but her vocals are muted, muddy, and weighed down.

I need a download link, the remix its so amazing.

Wouldn’t this be a more appropriate title for a remix album of Kelly Rowland’s, considering her song ‘Commander’ has the lyrics ‘I’ll be your commander […] I command you to dance’? That’s some shady business, Ke-Dollar Sign-Ha.

I usually don’t like listening to the same song on different albums, even if it’s a remix. But I just might buy the collection in March.

Actually, this is even better than I hoped!
I just wonder… If Cannibal is going so bad on sales, how does she intend to release a remix album, and suceed??
    I’m gonna buy, but… Poor K$ =(
