The football field isn’t the only place the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers are squaring off. Along with the upcoming Super Bowl comes a remix of “Black and Yellow,” Wiz Khalifa’s ‘Burgh-loving anthem, from rap titan Lil Wayne. His “Green and Yellow,” named after the Wisconsin team’s uniform colors, basically declares Green Bay will be raising the Lombardi trophy come Sunday. “Terrible towels?/ That s—’s boring/ We got the ball/ You know we’re scoring” Wayne raps over the Stargate production.

The White Stripes: A farewell playlist
Image Credit: Patrick KeelerToday’s announcement of the White Stripes’ abrupt if not entirely unexpected end has left many red-and-white fans feeling blue today.
But the duo themselves would rather put a positive spin on it: As they say in part in the statement on their official site (currently crashed by excessive pageviews), “The White Stripes do not belong to Meg and Jack anymore. The White Stripes belong to you now and you can do with it whatever you want. The beauty of art and music is that it can last forever if people want it to.”
With that in mind, EW has compiled an essential—if by no means comprehensive—playlist spanning the band’s nearly-fourteen-year career, from the raw basement bashings of their earliest Detroit days to their long and comparatively glossy run as Conan O’Brien’s unofficial house band. Jack and Meg White posted a statement on their site today saying that the band “has officially ended and will make no further records or perform live.” The White Stripes’ last album, Icky Thump, came out in 2007, and the duo’s last major appearance was on Conan O’Brien’s final Late Night episode in 2009.
According to the statement, both Jack and Meg are “feeling fine and in good health,” and the decision comes instead from a desire to “preserve what is beautiful and special about the band.” READ FULL STORY »
Amos Lee scores lowest-selling No. 1 debut in SoundScan history: how low can CD sales go?
Amos Lee earns his first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart this week. His Mission Bell sold 40,000 copies. That’s wonderful for him. But really, it’s a sad week in the music business when the most popular album of the week moves such a miniscule amount. Lee’s latest marks a record low total for first week sales since SoundScan started tracking them in 1991. January is usually a slow month when it comes to music sales, but last month’s numbers were downright abysmal.
At No. 2 is Iron and Wine’s Kiss Each Other Clean, selling 39,000 albums. And the No. 3 record is Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday; coming off her SNL appearance last Saturday, her debut solo album moved 38,000 units. Check out the rest of the top 10 after the jump.
