Memo to Lady Ca Ca: See, you would not have to have all those gimmicks to sell your music if it was actually good.

      • Charles

Janelle Monae and Adele are killing it right now.

Totally agree! Further proof that talent trumps Sex-Selling “Superstars” and tween crushes. Now if only Christina Aguilera would learn that valuable lesson…

That album is very deserving of the #1 spot. It is great!!

    wow

Wow, and even 352,000! That’s more that these single 40,000 to 100,000 sales weeks with the No. 1 albums. Even more than what Justin Bieber did the previous week! Excellent promotion and buildup for Adele’s album! I think the big name producers like Ryan Tedder on her album may have boosted those sales. But they kept their slick sounds for others away from her and kept to her musical vision. I hope Britney Spears and Jennifer Hudson have strong first week sales when their albums also come out in late March.

LOL To that Bieber fan who commented that it was a good thing he didn’t win best new artist cause it was the kiss of death then said, look at Adele. Yes, lets look at Adele, a real artist.

Soooo Happy for my girl! Hopefully this will be a trend in the right direction. Beiber got beat by Esperanza and Adele. Hopefully he is on his way out!!

Good deal. I got the hear the whole thing on Spinner.com last week, and I was impressed — especially with “Rolling in the Deep” (one of my favorite songs at the moment) and “Rumour Has It (which I hope gets some airplay too…).

      * got TO hear

Adele, Mumford & Sons..the British are taking the US by storm.

    • orville

I know–they’re both so wonderfully awesome. It’s about time that real talent also tops the charts.

    • Jean Genie

Don’t get too excited – not every British act will have luck here. But since Adele proves you don’t need any gimmicks or other hotness, I’m still giving her a chance.

      • steph

i have to disagree with you. Adele is pretty hot.

      • Nelson

Wow Beyonce sounds even more aznimag with her natural voice. It amazed me so much at the end how she finished the song. She has got the most BEAUTIFUL voice!

  • Anne

Adele’s album is wonderful! Good for her!

  • tcc

Love the album but it is a little ballad heavy for my taste, wish there were more “Rolling in ..” and “Rumour Has It” higher energy song towards the end of the album.

    • ethel merman

Yup, just one ballad too many for me as well but still a fantastic effort. Listened to it all morning…again.

    • adam

It’s a great album, but I somewhat agree. The first two songs have great energy, and the rest of the album is ballad-heavy. Don’t get me wrong, the ballads are good songs, but it would have been nice if she had at least one more song towards the end of the album that is similar in energy to Rumour Has It.
