Beyonce announces split from her father/manager

Beyonce has split from the only manager she’s ever known: her father. Matthew Knowles had guided his daughter’s career since her early days as a member of Destiny’s Child, and the superstar singer said that the decision to part ways was mutual and amicable. “I’ve only parted ways with my father on a business level,” Beyonce said in a statement. “He is my father for life and I love my dad dearly. I am grateful for everything he has taught me.”

In a separate statement, Matthew Knowles emphasized his commitment to his company, Music World Entertainment, in particular his gospel and inspirational label, and reflected on his daughter’s success. “We did great things together, and I know that she will continue to conquer new territories in music and entertainment,” Knowles said. “Business is business and family is family. I love my daughter and am very proud of who she is and all that she has achieved. I look forward to her continued great success.”

According to CNN, it was not immediately apparent who, if anyone, would replace Knowles as Beyonce’s manager.

The Queen B will be just fine. She’s one of the most business savvy people in the industry. I’m sure she put a lot of thought into this and knows what she’s doing.

Seriously, right? She probably only needs a manager to handle the finances and bookkeeping.

Wish Beyonce the best…her new manager has a tough act to follow!

Beyonce is a grown woman & does not need her dad around 24/7!

Right. And she’s a bigger star and brand now and needs to move on to another manager to handle her career. I thought Mathew did an excellent job managing her daughter Beyonce for over a decade.

Having a parent for a manager is difficult because as a child grows up, there must be a healthy separation between an adult and their parent. I admire what Mr. Knowles has accomplished; he’s done a great job, but when you have guilt and family loyalty mixed up with business, it gets complicated. Firing a parent must be one of the hardest things a person has to do. I admire Beyonce for having the strength to do it.

Exactly. No doubt that BeyoncĂ© is grateful for all that he’s done for her, as he helped her prepare for and launched her career, but at this point she has long outgrown him. About time that she let go of him. This can only mean good things for her in terms of artistic growth.

this news came from CNN?!?! Sheesh! Beyonsh*t is sooo over-exposed and over-rated!! just go away!! tee-hee!

Isn’t this like the 3rd or 4th time this has happened?

  • nunya

I thought this happened a while ago.

    • Linda

Yeah, that happened when Beyonce used to perform using her alter-ego Destiny’s Child

    • PN

It was Kelly Rowland who split from Matthew Knowles a while ago, not Beyonce.

I AM SHOCKED! He let the Golden Goose get away. Something must`ve went down. The Jacksons and Janet did the same thing with Joe Jackson. Sometimes that could be a good thing I suppose.

So Beyonce’s father taught his daughter how to look like a prostitue on her music video and telling her it’s ok to do so. Intresting family.

I think Beyonce is very talented and I love her style 0f music. Compared to some performers, her attire is fine!

I think Beyonce is a bigger star now and she has far eclipsed having Mathew Knowles as a manager. On a business level, she should move ahead. I’m sure she might be getting with some of the other top celebrity managers. I don’t think it’s shocking–her clout and earnings are a lot bigger now than a decade ago when she was in Destiny’s Child and solo. I think it’s for the best and I’m sure she appreciates her dad for managing her for a long time. And I commend that it was a amicable split.
