I don’t want to like this new song from the super boy band that I’m pretty sure was plucked straight out of my wildest dreams. (Did I mention my dreams are pretty boring?) The problem is that Sandra circa 1998 won’t let me mock it.
The new song from NKOTBSB (New Kids on the Block + Back Street Boys), titled “Don’t Turn Off the Lights,” was first previewed in December to fans aboard the Backstreet Boys cruise*, but this is the first time the track has been heard in its entirety. You can hear it below:
Admittedly, it takes more than a few cues from the Boys’ “Straight Through My Heart,” and is basically a perfect pop song incognito. Yeah, that dance beat isn’t fooling anyone—this is pure pop. That aside, there are a few things I can appreciate about it—most notably the fact that the two band’s voices are so seamlessly woven together. It’s almost a game—again, a lame game that only I would play — to identify each voice in the song. (So far, I know that BSBer Brian starts the song, A.J joins in, then NKOTB’s Joey.** Then, I’m stumped.)
I’m done. I’m giving in: I love it. There, I said it. I can admit that I’m not over this boyband thing. At. All. Can you?

Ughh, I think I might have to listen to entirity of Surfer Rosa just to clean my ears out. That being said, I will go ahead and admit that the first album I ever bought with my own money was BB’s Black & Blue, so this totally brings back some memories.
I love the song and TallPeopleMatch was amazing
Catchy, but no Jordan Knight falsetto? Boo.

Jordan actually has th first line in the song not Brian. Trust me I know my Jordan voice.

Love the song and that BSB dominate the song with their amazing vocals….the only NKOTB showcased on the song is Joey, Jordan and Donnie.
If I am correct it goes like this
Brian, AJ, Joey, Brian, Nick(Chorus Lead), Jordan, Nick, Brian, Joey, Nick (Chorus Lead), Howie, Nick, Nick(Chorus Lead). And I believe that’s how it goes.
Yeah you need to take another listen that is Jordan Knight at the start of the song then AJ and then Joe.
oooooooooh. This song was created just so my best friend (big NKOTB fan) and me(BSB for life) can finally see eye to eye on something.

I could hear some Howie and I’m pretty sure Donnie is the speaking part. It seems more BSB & Joe McIntyre, but I’ll take it! It’s a really catchy track!
I’m a BSB-er, so other than Joey, I was stumped, but I did pick out Nick, AJ, Brian & Howie.

I was on the cruise when they previewed this song, and as soon as I heard it, I fell in love!
Don’t worry Sandra, I would play Which Boy sings that lyric (I heard all the BSB, plus Donnie, Joey, and Jordan).
