Beyoncé and Alicia Keys' 'Put It In a Love Song' video: Watch a delightful preview here

An all-important piece of any great diva-on-diva collaboration is a killer-fabulous music video. Just think back to some of the best, more recent diva duos that churned out amazing clips—for instance, the mind-boggle that is Gaga and Beyoncé’s “Telephone” and that deliciousness put together a decade ago by Missy, Christina, Pink, and Lil’ Kim in “Lady Marmalade.”

There are, of course, many more. But one that we’ll likely be adding to that list? Beyoncé and Alicia’s video collab for their song “Put It In a Love Song.” We’ve already seen on-set photos from the video shoot and we’ve, of course, heard the actual song, but the fine folks over at Idolator discovered this fun behind-the-scenes preview thingy for the forthcoming video, which you can watch after the jump.

The duet is already a sultry blast, but could this sparkly, tribal, showgirls-filled video potentially send it into the stratosphere? Methinks, yes, hopefully. And: Beyoncé and Alicia look stunning, especially Alicia’s juicy-red lips. Watch the preview here and tell me what you think afterward:

50 Cent donates Gaddafi performance fee to Unicef

50 Cent, who performed a private concert for Mutassim Gaddafi — son of the Libyan dictator — in 2005, has announced that he will donate the fee he received for the gig to Unicef. “In light of the ongoing events in Libya,” a representative for the rapper said in a statement, “50 Cent will be making a donation to Unicef, which is providing vital relief supplies to meet the needs of women and children at risk during this crisis.” The performer joins a list of musicians including Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Usher, and Nelly Furtado, all of whom performed at private events linked to the Gaddafi family and, in the wake of the violence in Libya, have subsequently announced donations to charity.

Britney Spears says: 'Femme Fatale is my most upbeat and mature album yet.'

Ruven Afanador/Out

With the release of Britney Spears’ much-anticipated seventh studio album, Femme Fatale, less than three weeks away, the pop diva is beginning her round of promotional interviews. Of course, she’ll be doing the Good Morning America thing on Tuesday, March 29, the day the album hits stores. But one of her first print/online interviews is with Out magazine in a story called “Britney E-Mails Her Heart.” The story is slugged that because, as you might guess, the interview was done entirely via email. (Her handlers are obviously still keeping her close, which is no fun.)

Since email interviews allow the subject to really think about what he or she is saying—and the luxury of having a publicist read over and edit anything before it goes back to the journalist—this particular interview didn’t yield the juiciest of quotes of anecdotes. But, what the hell! We’ll bite! She talks her new album, the album she thinks changed the world (you’ll be surprised!), which Golden Girl is her favorite, and lots more. Here are a few of our favorite bits from Britney’s chat with the gay magazine:

When you were starting out, whose career did you want to mold after yours? “Madonna. No question. She is an amazing entertainer. Besides Madonna, I also admire Sarah Jessica Parker’s career and her shoe collection?”

Are there any of your songs that you wish you hadn’t recorded/you don’t really love? “No. All my songs are f—ing amazing.”

How is Femme Fatale different from your other albums? I think Femme Fatale is my most upbeat and mature album yet.

Avril Lavigne's acoustic cover of Ke$ha's 'TiK ToK': Watch it here

Categories: Avril Lavigne, Ke$ha

And sometimes, when the planets align, we’ll see a mainstream artist have a go themselves, like Chris Daughtry did with Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face.” This time, Avril Lavigne and her sparkly microphone take a mellower approach to Ke$ha’s pervasive 2010 single, “TiK ToK.”

Phil Collins' retirement from music: Five reasons we'll miss him

phil-collinsImage Credit: David M. Benett/Getty ImagesI suspect the news that Phil Collins is retiring—at least temporarily—from music will have been greeted in many quarters with the clink of champagne flutes and hearty cries of, “Thanks god we’ve gotten rid of that bald bastard at last.”

Certainly, the Genesis drummer and solo superstar has been responsible for some terrible music in his time, and I remain amazed that his hellacious 1989 single “Another Day In Paradise” never became the subject of some kind of war crimes commission. But, personally, I’ve always thought Phil Collins was fairly awesome. Here’s five reasons why:

'Glee' nailed 'Landslide,' but which cover of the Stevie Nicks classic is the best? Take our poll

The Wide World of Web is buzzing today with talk about Gwyneth Paltrow’s version of Fleetwood Mac’s classic 1975 ballad “Landslide,” from her second guest spot on Glee last night.

Even those who think Gwyneth should have been headed off at the pass before making Country Strong were knocked out by the Oscar-winning actress’ quiet, subdued version of the Stevie Nicks ballad.

Like a great many songs from the classic rock era, “Landslide” has been covered countless times—by the Dixie Chicks, the Smashing Pumpkins, Stacey Kent, and now Glee—but in a strange turn of fate, none of these versions suck. In fact, most of them are quite good: not necessarily inventive, but they all successfully capture the solitary wistfulness in the White-Winged Dove’s original.

Which cover of Stevie Nicks’ “Landslide” makes your eyes the mistiest? Listen to them here and take our poll at the bottom!

(And to read the story of Stevie’s original inspiration for the song, check out her 2009 interview with EW).
