American Idol creator and XIX Entertainment founder Simon Fuller will partner with 19 Entertainment and CKX, Inc., to manage the winner of season 10 . Fuller — who has helped advise previous Idol contestants like Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jordin Sparks, David Cook, and Chris Daughtry — served as manager for season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert in 2009. “Simon Fuller is the rare breed who can effect popular culture both in America and in Europe,” Jimmy Iovine, chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M Records (and season 10 mentor), said in a press release. “He has brought us a platform for music like nothing before it in American Idol. The opportunity for this year’s winner and runner-up to be managed by someone of his caliber along with UMG’s commitment to these artists and show is incomparable.” READ FULL STORY »

Beyonce announces split from her father/manager
Beyonce has split from the only manager she’s ever known: her father. Matthew Knowles had guided his daughter’s career since her early days as a member of Destiny’s Child, and the superstar singer said that the decision to part ways was mutual and amicable. “I’ve only parted ways with my father on a business level,” Beyonce said in a statement. “He is my father for life and I love my dad dearly. I am grateful for everything he has taught me.”
In a separate statement, Matthew Knowles emphasized his commitment to his company, Music World Entertainment, in particular his gospel and inspirational label, and reflected on his daughter’s success. “We did great things together, and I know that she will continue to conquer new territories in music and entertainment,” Knowles said. “Business is business and family is family. I love my daughter and am very proud of who she is and all that she has achieved. I look forward to her continued great success.”
According to CNN, it was not immediately apparent who, if anyone, would replace Knowles as Beyonce’s manager.
Wiz Khalifa wants to rap over Mumford and Sons: Good idea?

MTV’s Sway recently sat down with Pittsburgh native Wiz Khalifa and in the flow of their interview, asked Wiz what beat in the wide world of music he’d like to rap on.
“Mumford & Sons,” he answered quickly, though not remembering the exact cut. “They got a really tight song that I wanna rap over, that I would totally rap over if I had the chance to. They’re tight and really musical. I like the instruments they use, like bongos.”
“That would be a good collaboration,” Sway responded. Really? I’m all for branching out. But a collaboration between those two sounds about as attractive as mixing orange juice with coffee. Hey, it’s just an idea, I know. And who am I to shoot down Wiz’s artistic right to explore? It could be good, maybe even a hit of gigantic proportions. I’m just betting otherwise.

And the award for the strangest pairing in a conversation or interview goes to… Interview Magazine for bringing rap titan Lil Wayne and socialite Paris Hilton together.
Interview, known for coupling celebrities for interesting chats, picked the heiress to speak with their April issue’s cover boy, whom she says she first met at a Grammy party in L.A. An excerpt of their Q&A is on their site now, and it features several fun facts–like the following:
“The most bizarre thing I’ve ever read about myself is that I was dead,” says Wayne, who claims he’s never actually Googled himself. “That was kind of weird to read that I’m dead—mostly because I was reading it.” The two go on to talk about paparazzi harassment, how little Wayne grew up to become Lil Wayne, and how he dealt with his stay at Rikers Island last year. Surprisingly (well, not really), Hilton can relate.

Among them were music peers Dr. Dre, Game, DJ Quik, Mack-10, WC, DJ Pooh, and fellow 213 group members Snoop Dogg and Warren G.
Snoop recalled how their friendship began 25 years ago. “1986, Poly High School, that’s where we connected for the first time,” Snoop said. “We didn’t know each other, but the music connected us. We built a brotherhood.”

DJ Megatron, a popular hip-hop radio personality who frequently appeared on BET’s 106 & Park television program, was shot and killed early this morning near his home in Staten Island, according to the Associated Press. Police said the 32-year old deejay, born Corey McGriff, was found dead around 2 a.m. with a gunshot wound to his chest. No arrests have been made.
Megatron made a name for himself on the radio, starring at several high-profile stations, including New York’s Kiss FM. He appeared in a few movies, including State Property 2 (2005), and he was father of three children. “He probably had one of the best personalities around — super-positive, happy all the time,” Justin Kirkland, Megatron’s manager, told the AP.
The Flaming Lips release a song called 'Is David Bowie Dying?': Do they know something we don't?

Not that the Flaming Lips need to explain their general weirdness to anyone, but the indie-psych stalwarts gave us pause with the title to their recently released song.
“Is David Bowie Dying?” is the first song on a very limited-release EP (only 1,000 copies) that is already available online, naturally. The tune — which is a collaboration with chillwave maestro Alan Palom of Neon Indian — is a neat little foray into eerie, atmospheric electronica that wouldn’t have sounded out of place on a Throbbing Gristle record or the second half of Bowie’s “Heroes.” You can listen to it here: READ FULL STORY »
Billie Joe Armstrong and his pup sing Green Day: Watch the doggone cute video here
YouTube has a litter of ‘singing’ dog videos, but this might be the finest canine/celebrity musical crossbreeding yet.
From the leisure of their home, Billie Joe Armstrong and his dog Rocky perform “Last Night on Earth” from Green Day’s 21st Century Breakdown. Needless to say, these two together give the tune a new LEASH on life.
Armstrong tickles the ivories while hiding under a hoodie, so the punk frontman’s Cockapoo (hmm, no puns there) truly takes center stage with his high-pitched but surprisingly melodic howling. Watch it here: READ FULL STORY »
